How much does a Fender Rhodes weigh? How big is it?

The answer varies from year to year, with later models being more lightweight due to the use of less wood & more plastic.  The Mark V was the lightest of all at approximately 100 lbs (45 kg).  From my own experience, a 1978 Suitcase 73 Mark I has a piano top weighing about 130 lbs (60 kg) and an amp bottom weighing 110 lbs (50 kg).  With the lid on, the piano is 45" x 23" x 10" (115 cm x 60 cm x 25 cm), and the amp is about the same width & length, but depth is a little bigger (12" or 30 cm).  If you know the size and weight of your own Rhodes, please post it by replying here!!!

BTW, since most people are asking about this in order to have the piano shipped somewhere, you should know about the inherent risks (i.e. don't just stick an address label on the side and hope it makes it there OK).  Read these shipping instructions before you do anything: http://ep-forum.com/smf/index.php?topic=511

I weighed my Mark 1 88 Stage just before taking it on the road with me around 1974 and it was approximately 200 pounds.  That was totally packed, with the legs and pedal in the top and the top attached, ready to go.

I'll take a stab at translating:

Quote
Three faces of a star you can see everywhere

You can't get better than a "piano-Fender." It's the most used of all the electric pianos. It's originality resides in the principle of classic function applied to new materials. the strings are replaced here by lamelles* or "diapasons" which have an extremely pure vibration. Its musical qualities make it the greatest instrument for modern pianists.

*I would translate that as plates, but I'm not too sure

So what would a Mark II 73 stage piano weigh?  I am hoping i can take it on the plane and pay the extra fee.

I just weighed my 1980 88 for shipping - 103lbs for the piano and 31lbs for the lid = 134lbs (61Kg)... I don't have legs, so whatever that would add as well.

Mark.

As for the 54 stage it weighs exactly 99lb (45kg)

But to tell you the truth I didn't find it to be much easier to carry than a 73, the size does make it a little easier though, but definitely not the weight !

Anyone know the dimensions and weight of a rhodes piano bass?

Thanks,loz

Electrickey

I found some info looks to be the ballpark dimensions of an 88 note suitcase:

Keyboard 54.5" x 23.5" x 9.5" weight 121 lbs
Speaker 45.5" x 26" x 13" weight 91 lbs

David Aubke

1973 Stage Seventy Three: 132.4 lbs
1981 Stage Seventy Three (with plastic keys): 135.8 lbs

Both weights include all standard components except for the leg bag.
