Thought this was funny - wondering if you could share which would be the better deal, they're both in the same Craigslist city, same week:

That's some tough competition.

Craiglist is just clogged with folks selling Grandma's organ, who know she paid $6,000 for it 30 years ago, and just can't believe that it's worth little or nothing today.  Eventually, they figure it out.

(Unfortunately, not too many people like theater organ-type sounds these days, and most of those organs from the '70s and '80s are full of ICs and proprietary parts that are very hard to find, making them impossible to fix.)

Things go in and out of style...  The flip side of this is that since most people these days buy a $75 Casio for their kids' piano lessons, there are lots of nice, really cheap acoustic pianos for sale.  Non-musicians tend to regard them as dinosaurs.

Yeah.  I love those tragic organ ads.  I can't stop laughing when they ask for $3000, or even $600.  I just think about how many great instruments I could buy with that cash instead, and how much lower the hassle would be.

I think it is HILARIOUS when the seller claims that their organ is in "excellent condition" and then mentions that two keys don't work, and some such other defect is "really easy to fix."  If it is all that easy to fix, then why didn't you ever fix it?  Uh, I don't believe that "broken" is the same as "excellent condition."

I have a Hammond L122 that works pretty well, and all my friends think it is worth thousands.  They can't believe it when I tell them that I would have a hell of a hard time trying to get $200 for it.  IF I could find someone who wanted it, and IF they were geographically close, and IF they wanted to lug it back to their house, then they would certainly test it out and find that the minor imperfections make the organ less than a goldmine.  I love it, because it is good enough to jam and rock.  I would never sell it, because it lets me pretend I am BT Jones (well, a crippled and lame imitation of him, but...).

Seller's Glossary
It's an easy fix = "It's completely hopeless. I thought I could fix it myself, but I ended up screwing it up even worse and then finding out it'll cost hundreds to repair, so now I'm trying to pawn it off on some other sucker."

I love the L100 - had one for years but had to give it away!  At least I found a band that would take it.
