Over the weekend I picked up a mark I stage 73. It plays fairly well. I was able to get most keys to my desired tone, but I'm having issues with a few bass keys. These keys sound in tune when first attacked, but as they sustain the pitch rises or falls! From what I read this is characteristic of the piano but I have never heard unwanted pitch bends this noticeable. Especially when playing octaves in the bass and giving my ears something to compare it to. any suggestions?

Try flattening the pitch slightly, and also move the pickup slightly further away.

See if that helps.

Trying that right now. Thanks!
I can't find much info on this issue. Even if I strike the tine without running it through the amp I can hear the pitch shifting

Seemed to do the trick. Cheers!

the magnetism in the pickup can play havoc with the decaying pitch of those longer tines, especially when set very close as they are much more bendy than the shorter ones...
