The instructer model is 207. No such thing as a 205. Is that price per piano or for all? It makes a big difference in the total..

I read it as being for the lot rather than per piano.

Wish we could get those sort of deals over here!

Those deals are getting rarer, for sure. I bought 12 at an auction from my college about 17-18 years ago. I paid less than $50 per piano!

Nice find! 206A's are a pain in the butt though. No lid speakers and ugly burlap front grills. No tremolo or line out without modification and still questionable whether it will work or not.  At least it comes with reed bar shields though. I have also noticed repeated lack of quality on student models. They are the ones that get the warped bases.

I've owned 15 206a's and I've never had any of those problems with them...

I love the sound of the larger speakers. Of course, mine is not for gigging, so the weight doesn't matter to me.

How much are they selling this lot for? (Not that I have the space, but I love the 206.)

I registered on this site, but it tells me it is a restricted auction.

I thought I saw them sell for 5 grand. I think the price was $5,334 after taxes/fees. I was going to purchase but that wasn't worth it for me.

That is a LOT for 206's! The buyer will be in for a shock when he tries to resell them for a profit....

He'll be lucky to break even. People want portable models, not 150lb models.

I don't know if they re-listed them, but I just followed the link and it showed the current price as $250 (just a single bid at the starting price), with 9 days to go in the auction.

Yeah, $5,000 for the lot seems really high. It does look like it's been relisted though.

How often do they come up on sites like this?

I think Steveo is right that people want them chopped, but personally, I love the sound and overall aesthetic of the 206. Not everyone gigs, and the 206 cabinets sound so good for home and studio use. I get sad every time one of these gets chopped.

Thanks,

Luke

I agree, that is way too much money for those.  They seem to be lesser quality than 200 200A's. The front grills resemble something like burlap. For someone that restores them, they're profitable.  For someone reselling as is, not so much.

The 206A is not lesser quality than a 200 or 200A, they are just a little different. No built in vibrato, larger speakers, and a few other minor differences, but the quality is the same... I will never chop my 206A! When I had 12 of them to sell, I had to chop a couple at the buyers' request . It was interesting to do the process, but I won't do it to mine.  None of mine had burlap for grill cloths.

I notice way more quality issues on the student models that are rare to see on what I'd call "professional" models. Some of the issues I see are:

Uneven damper lift
Weaker upper octave due to reedbar mfg. issues
Keybed bases that are warped

I can imagine the scenario that workers who were building the student models used the lesser quality components because they knew students most-likely only going to be playing C scales all day long, how much would they care?

Just some things I have noticed over the years.
