Rhodes Mk II vs Motif ES

just got my MK II suitcase, amp is not working so right out of the aux to the mixer, threw the midi keyboard on top and compared the motif es various rhodes sounds for a real side by side...


one of the reasons I bought the motif was becuase of the warmth of the vintage sounds...

still I have to say the Rhodes still had a much fatter sound, more lower-midrange.. you could definitly hear the difference..

My guess would be that, like other keyboards that try to simulate pianos, the synth lacks the sympathetic ringing of the other strings (or tines in this case) as well as the infinite overtones from various strike velocities.
