Jazz Fest rented my '78 Suitcase as their backline Rhodes.  Was pretty cool to see it on stage next to a Steinway and hear it played by jazz pros.  Two bands (Etienne Charles and Nordic Connect) used it yesterday, looks like today will get rained out.

That's awesome. I'm glad it was a pristine specimen everyone got to see up on stage.

Here's a vid of Etienne Charles with the Rhodes, so all y'all don't think it's just a pretty face.

Sorry for the orientation of the vid, not sure what happened there.  Today's Fest is still happening, so Anat Cohen Quartet will still get their turn with the suitcase.

Sounds great and the legs present very nice on stage. My neck may need some work after the video though..... ;D

Yeah, I liked that the side stage players had digitals, but the pros rocked the real thing. Seemed to be some buzz about it, too.  I heard a middle - aged guy in front of me explain to his wife that it was "a brand-new Fender Rhodes piano".  Pretty much, but off by 36 years.  I talked to two of the guys who played it, and they really liked it.  You could see other guys in the band 'wow' over it when they were setting up.  The stage manager asked if I'd be his regular Rhodes guy for events, too.

Another event (Steely Dan tribute) where hundreds of people got to feast their eyes and ears on a fine specimen.  (photo was during setup- the whole area was packed with people once we got going)  That's "King of the World" on the sheet music, if you're wondering.

Representin' with the early-'75 88 Satellite.  Just got the Ken Rich straddlers, and they worked great.  This piano has the Vintage Vibe StereoVibe pre-amp set to FET mode, so I was worried about RF interference (especially with a digital board right on top of it), but didn't have any problems.  Totally in love with this 88; best sounding Rhodes I've encountered.  It sounds great to begin with, and the Stereovibe FET mode is magical on it.

The keyboardist had played the 88 a lot before I overhauled it, and this was the first time he's played it since the overhaul.  While we were setting up, he had his Rhodes patch pulled up on the Motif and was A/B'ing against the 88, and I remember thinking, 'wow, the 88 blows the Motif out of the water'.  The Motif has pretty respectable Rhodes sounds, but it sounded thin and fake compared to that finely tuned 'golden era' 88.  I asked him about the 88 after the show, and he said, "The Rhodes sounds GREAT!"  He went on to say that before the overhaul he would have preferred to just play the Motif, since the response of the Rhodes was so uneven.  "But now, I'd go on tour with just the Rhodes".  Word.

The Rhodes sounds great voltergeist, really enjoyed that!

If you go to your YouTube Creator Studio (it's what they now call your video homepage) there is a section on the left called "Create" with a camera symbol. Click on "Video Editor" underneath that, drag the video over to the editor timeline and there's an option under "Quick Fixes" for rotating the video.
