One of my clients is offering me a technics sx ea1 digital organ in near mint condition. Everything functions and it is not beat up. This is very light, I can almost move it myself. It as two short manuals and a 1 octave bass pedal board.

Does anyone know about what this is worth? I want to barter with him but have no idea what the value is. If it is very low, I may donate it to a needy family or an ORGANization ( pun intended) or save it for when my daughter moves out and needs a keyboard- its perfect for an apartment.

I think they date to about 1989/1990.
I don't think they would fetch more than $50-75 in Australia - IF you could find someone interested.
More likely to sell on a noticeboard at a local shopping centre than on line.

I donated a much more elaborate Technics organ to our local refugee centre to use in their community room.
The downside for them is that they will have to pay to dump it when they have no further use for it.

There is no collectors market for residential organs - only stage organs.

Ok thanks. Its small enough and light enough to actually gig with.... It has lots of digital sounds, not just organ. Plus, its Midi.  I am thinking it would be perfect for someone young who is in an apartment or even a dorm and just needs something to play on. The sounds are actually pretty decent except the horrible 80's rhodesish sound....

Does anyone in the US have an idea of the value here?

In gerneral organs of that vintage, especially spinets, aren't worth much, maybe $100 if you are lucky.  I can't speak specifically about that model but mostly only certain Hammonds or pipe organs command much money in the U.S.  I'd be surprised if that one is worth anything.

I was thinking in the $75- $100 range myself, but this one is different from a typical home organ. This is more like a digital piano except wth organ keys and bass pedals. Im not sure if that makes sense, but I am not used to organs that have a digital piano preset and are light enough for two people to carry....I would be surprised if it even weighs 90 lbs...

It looks cool, I'd happily pay more than 100 bucks for it just to use as a midi controller... a shame shipping this from the usa might cost a fortune...

Haha yeah, shipping would be a problem. I have two daughters that will be leaving the nest soon and they both play, so one of them will get it.

I didnt intend on selling, I just wanted to know the barter value because it was given to me.

even if the sounds on this may suck, this would make a GREAT controller for any vst organ or any b3 samples... I wish it was closer...

Actually most sounds are ok except the dx7 like ' Rhodes' and the acoustic piano sound is thin.

Again, it is NOT for sale, it is for one of my kids. I was trying to determine the value for bartering purposes.
