hey folks.  :)

if your Wurlitzer Amp is broken or gone  :)  and you want to get a signal out of your
Wurlitzer Piano and into your Computer or any other amp outside of your Piano, there are at least to possibilities.

Nr. 1 is for the DIY guys out there, it keeps the original voltage on the reed bar but
needs no working amp to get the signal out of the Piano:

https://viva-analog.com/wurlitzer-270-passive-conversion/

Nr. 2 is what I learned about today, a cheap plug-in solution to convert the Piano
to "passive" useage without the original amp and voltage but with the help of a 9 volt battery, check this:

https://borishelectronics.com/products/wurlitzer-200b-amplifier-kit-200-200a-206-206a-214-custom

perfect idea, perfect solution, I might get one of these for my dead 207 Teacher Piano.

 :)

Edith has altered the thread title as per recommendation from member velo-hobo.
thank you.

NOW SOLD - NOW SOLD - NOW SOLD

-------------------------------------------------

hey there.  :)

I have two Wurlitzer 300 E-Pianos for sale at this time.
I am a private person and sell without any warranty.
I will help with shipping within reason.

first one is in good condition optically, but needs adjustment on the mechanics.
and an electrical overhaul.
Pilot lamp is running when the Piano is plugged in.
for sale for 2200 Euro fix, this is what I have in it, I am not looking for profit.

second one is in good condition as well optically and it does run.
has had some work done to it already, has got 6.3mm output jack and
two 6.3mm jacks for effects.
Action is okay and only needs some slight adjustments, playing is fun.
for sale for 2700 Euro fix, again, this is what I have in it, I am not looking for profit.

I will do something else with this Piano then, it seems, maybe a tube amp conversion like this:

The Wurlitzer Electric Piano / Re: Wurli line out
January 14, 2022, 02:21:50 PM
warning, this topic is a billion years old.   :)

but intesting, since the solid state amp on my 207 needs some help, I am thinking about a tube amp conversion with a champ chassis.

interesting site with lots of info about the conversion into a "passive" instrument:

https://viva-analog.com/wurlitzer-270-passive-conversion/

I need help to understand that in full, but not now please.   :)

tin foil soaked in coca cola is another solution, that does surprisingly well with rust removal, especially on chrome.

The Wurlitzer Electric Piano / Re: Painting 206A Lid
January 08, 2022, 01:32:53 PM
hey there.

I am curious to see, with what kind of design your artist partner comes up with.    :)

the preparation depends on which kind of surface texture your artist friend would like to work with ...

the Lid is made from ABS plastic and has this neat vintage texture to it.

you could either work with the texture, or have it sanded smooth with emery paper ect. before

applying some basic plastic primer. ( and some filler maybe )

If you plan to keep / work with the original surface texture, minimal sanding is key, not to ruin it.

could be a good idea, to use some fine emery/grinding paste with a medium firm brush instead of emery paper.   :)

again: as a first step go with a spray on plastic primer.

talk to the artist what kind of paints are going to be used, use a 2k primer if in doubt.

great custom paint job on this Wurlitzer 200:

Tines and Reeds in Scheeßel, Germany, not far from where I live, has a new pre-amp for the Rhodes as well.

not sure for what kind of Rhodes though, I have no Rhodes.  :)

Mr. Tines and Reeds is a member of this board and kind and helpful.

The Fender Rhodes Electric Piano / Re: Amplifier Advice
December 16, 2021, 03:22:14 PM
it is not just about the sound, but about the dynamics as well.

do you have friends, that play guitar ?    see what amps they use and if you can test them with your Piano.

a Tweed deluxe ( Fender 5E3 ) with a 12" Alnico Speaker and a 12AY7 in pos. 1 for less disortion could be a good solution for home playing.

I just learned, that it is a small step from killer sound to it is too loud for the ears to enjoy.

live and learn.   :)

if you are in Europe, you can buy one of my Ampeg M-15, killer sound guarantee.

I just learned that two 15" Speakers are too much for the living room.

Hi there.

I just noticed, that this is your 2nd post in two years of membership and that your first post received no answer at all.

E-Pianists are a cruel bunch, who would have thought so ?

not me.

:)

you want a vintage tube amp with alnico speakers, not smaller than 12" for a start.   :)

or you buy a solid state amp with some ceramic speakers., fine as well.  :(

or a mix of both.  :P

those are different worlds IMO.

same instrument though.

:)

yes I always forget, that it has 61 keys only, the VV64 is big enough for me though.

I'd love to get my hands on a Valente, the Videos sound promising indeed.

:)

uploaded on Youtube just recently, I am not sure if many have seen / heard this hidden Gem of an Audio Tape.

Duke Ellington in May 1955 -  in which what must be one of the first Wurlitzer recordings ever:

great stuff.   :)

...than the Wurlitzer's they compete with. It seems like if the same keyboard had a Wurlitzer badge it would have a 10 page thread by now...

they are not competing with Wurlitzer, as there is no competition without a competitor.

Wurlitzer is gone for long, aren't they ?   :)

looking at and reading about the Valente E-Piano, it seems to be a new take on the "Suette" E-Piano from Brazil ...

That doesn't take anything from it of course, but would explain, why people who know about the original are
not as excited as the ones who don't. ( me )

I would love to give it a go.

:)

...Would be interested to hear one through a really clean blackface style amp to see what the dynamics and attack are like with loads of headroom...

the Blackface amps with their scooped mids hifi sound are Leo's attempt to get rid of the unwanted disortion,
for which he had identified the medium frequencies as responsible.

these are not a good match for any kind of E-Piano, I believe.  At least not for something that has some medium frequencies like the Valente.

I'd prefer a large Tweed Twin like the 80 Watt HPTT.
His small brother - the LPTT with 40 Watts - would do fine as well, I believe.

:)

Edit: all depending on the context in which the Piano is played of course, If one likes or needs the black- or silverface sound, that is fine.  :)

Edit 2: the "Suette", looks like Rhodes, has Reeds inside:

thanks for the head-up guys, three 'ermans on an American based board, I hate it.   ;)

but thanks for the Info on the cherry red # 77, now sold ...

anyway, let me share with you all what I believe to be the ultimate E-Piano home set-up:

the dear sparkle-top active deluxe with two freakin' Ampeg M-15 Amps ( second one came via UPS from Italy today ... )

build in 1959, 20 Watts from two 6L6, 15" Alnico Speakers  :) - these two Amps are upgraded with Altec Lansing 418B's.  :)

Octal pre-amp tubes for all that warmth, shimmer and dynamics one can think of.

these are octal amps that stay clean once turned up in volume, there is nothing like them out there.

non compressed vintage tone, true magical 3D sound.  :)

kind regards from Hamburgo, rock and roll.

:)

^^ looks funky indeed, it is something different and I like it.

congrats for getting it "on the road".   :)

and many happy times playing it, very well deserved.   :)

^^ nice post and playing, Frank.  :)

hello everyone.  :)

new member here from Hamburg, Germany, I got into E-Piano playing only recently, maybe 2 months ago,

after two years on the Yamaha upright Piano and more years on the guitar.  I am born in 1968.

I found a used VV64 from 2013 in the local classifieds and went for it, after some web-research.

What a sweet instrument it is, I am a big fan now and already found my second one ...  :)

pic from the cherry red VV64, much nicer in person, now sold to make way for my new one.

the second Vintage Vibe Piano is a dream come true, I found a like new 2018 black sparkle deluxe on the used market,

it even has the Stereo Console.

here it is, it arrived yesterday, looks like the milkyway in the night sky with lots of colorful stars.

It is not easy to get user information of these, as there is not much discussion going on,

neither here, nor elsewhere.

I am in love with the product, the company, the people.

so happy to be an enthusiastic part of it.

kind regards

Jan  :)
