I have a 1975 Rhodes I've been slowly rebuilding and it looks like this now!  Probably painted that top 15 times because of how many times I messed up haha.

I'm looking to have a cool vibe for speakers and was looking into some vintage hifi systems.  Like the large advent speakers.  With a receiver or something like that.

How well do you think that would do?  Or if others, do you have any recommendation of what other speakers to use to also get the stereo sound (since I have the modified cheekblock here for the vibrato).

I appreciate all the replies.  I ended up taking a normal cable, and cutting the end off of it + 3D printing a connector that was recommended to me, then securing all the cables accordingly.  Seems to be working well!

It would probably be wise to switch over to the modern connectors though...

Also, my volume is at 100% to get a normal sounding volume.  Is this normal?  Or is something amiss?  I read the 200 series can be a bit quiet but just wanted to check

@Steveo - Thank you for the input.  It was doing the loud hum when I got it (the hum shield is off to the side).  I went ahead and re-flowed all of the connection joints on my board per your recommendation to look at all the connections on the board, and it seems to have solved the issue of the loud hum wohoo!!  A few of the connections were lacking a bit of solder.

@Velo-hobo - I do have the hum shield, but not the reed bar shield.  This is what it sounds like after reflowing the connections on the preamp, and putting the hum shield back.  MUCH BETTER!  Still a bit of noise though.  You think I can further reduce this with a reed bar shield?

As far as the vibrato circuit, any tips on where to start in testing / replacing?  I seen lots of people just doing a complete recapping and installing new transistors and whatnot.  I had some help previously tracing a problem on an oscillator for a Rhodes with an electrical engineer - which helped a ton!  As I am good with a soldering iron but reading these schematics is still not my strong suit - although I am slowly learning.

Lastly.  I appreciate you both in taking time out of your days to help.  It truly means a lot!

I just got a Wurlitzer 200 and upon plugging it in, there is a loud buzz.  I thought it was the hum so I went ahead and did the buzz killer mod (to no avail).

My question is, I'm thinking of doing a complete rebuild of the preamp as the tremolo is also not functioning properly - I can kind of faintly hear it here and there in the buzz, but not really..  I am wondering if anyone has had a similar issue here and has fixed it?

Or would I be better off just going ahead and getting a vintage vibe preamp?

Does anyone by chance have a oval shaped power cable for a Wurli 200?  I just picked up this beauty, but with no power cable and I am really excited to play it.  It's killing me to just look at it and not be able to play it!  Haha

They do sell it but it's ridiculously expensive for a power cable.  I know I can switch it to a normal cable but I'd love to keep it in it's original state as much as possible.  So if by chance you have one just lying around I'd love to purchase it from ya

Hey I know I am jumping on this thread here but I thought you guys were super knowledgeable and may be able to help me?  Worth a shot 🤷�♂️

I have a early version of the Janus preamp and have this issue where the vibrato intensity is controlling the volume for some reason?  I changed a couple of capacitors and a resistor and have quadruple checked my solder points to make sure no funny business is happening.

I have been on this for days and can't seem to figure out a solution 🤷�♂️

I recently acquired a Rhodes 78 suitcase with the Janus cabinet.

I was running into the issue that the left side of the cabinet was not working.  I had another Rhodes in here and plugged it in and it seemed to work (long story short I realized it was actually a fuse on the Janus cabinet that was blown - but not before changing some of the capacitors and removing the R4 resistor to test)

The Rhodes always worked though and the tremolo seemed to be working but just no left speaker.

I changed the fuse and plugged it in.  All of a sudden, now the tremolo intensity affects only the volume and the tremolo doesn't work (LED is still on though).

Has anyone seen this issue before?

Any help is appreciated.  Checked all my soldering points and nothing is bridging, as well as cleaned with contact cleaner.

I'm at a loss.

The other Rhodes I have here, it's tremolo works fine with the cabinet..
