Nice tweed cabinet

From my top list after test, try and own
1.  Suitcase amp from early 80' (Lola)
2.  Twin reverb (Jensen)
3.  JC 120 (Roland)
I prefer Roland speaker from JC 120 amp (Japan) I don't know why...but it pleasing my ear more than Twin reverb
But if you looking for a new speaker to fit your Twin reverb cabinet may be you should try "Weber speaker"

For me .... I love this model so bad till I have to find the next one for spare but it turn out that now I got 4 units in my collection and if I find another one again .... I'll take it anytime.

Hi All
This year I just got empty cab with out speaker but the power amp part still there (5 pin) I need 4 speakers (12") What should be the brand name of new speaker( not vintage one) that work for the rhodes sound? I'll build the new suitcase cab for my 3rd MK V this year. I do some research and weber speaker is pop up. Any comment on this unit? Please recommend. Another idea.... I'll build the new tube amp system  (copy Twin reverb circuit from 65) and use the jansen speaker (If I can find 4 units) Any body use to build one before?

It just sound right to me..... That's all
#8
Did you check your cable yet ? I use to have some problem about the noise but after I check the cable and change it to a good one the problem is gone.
#9

Rhodes use mechanic movement part not electric current like synth or another keyboard. What 's Rhodes model you got?
#16
Guys
Check this new stage vintage paino out at korg website the concept is very good. Sound also interesting.

http://www.korg.com/sv1

I want to try one if they come out at dealer store

Audition through web cam 555555
Good one kiwizz..... You are the real vintage electric paino slutz.
#19
Oh...kiwizz
You got a new toy.... how it sound I use to try  wulitzer long time ago it's very hard to find in Thailand. Did you import for US or get a good deal in local?
#20
I think it's very hard to find may be .... harder than MK V
Good luck on your hunting
#21
Is that better to let your Rhodes be a star on her own space than share her space with another synth? If I were you I'll not let anything on top her lid
#22
frogmonkey
I think.... you should  treat your Rhodes like a lady  : )
#23
I've try some compressor such as... Urei 1178, LA4, Drawmer 251, Boss CS3, Guyatone vintage stombox. I don't like them all. I think it's change the attack & character of the Rhodes. At this moment I prefer patch to Mic pre DI or mic them up with good condenser mic.
#24
I think the Roland V piano knob look like cone shape but Mk V look like cylinder shape. At first I didn't notice this point but after I've part out for cleaning some detail pop up.
#25
Here is the Mk V knob
#26
bjammerz
Sure..... I'll take picture tonight for your ref.
#27
After cleaning it's look ok now.

Cobo with suitcase is sound more darker than JC120 (but it's look good)

Now...here is the question...after I have check all detail of both units it's seems that the new one have bigger knob than the old one and the name rail also have a diff texture as well anybody have info about this?
Here is the knob picture...
#28
Wow ..... a lot of info. about speaker. I've learn a lot. Thanks

The Fender Rhodes Electric Piano / new to Rhodes
July 15, 2009, 09:00:12 PM
From my point of view .....there have no Rhodes after 1984. It was junk
#30
Thank you very much bjammerz for the info. Is good to know that this unit is original one.
#31
Thanks bjammerz
At first I thought suitcase amp come with preamp circuit build in but  Last night I try to hook it up with mic preamp like you said and find out that  my Joe meek VC1 "The brick" is a good pair with my MkV and the suitcase can show their power now.

At this moment I still have some doubt about 4 speakers inside the unit  I'm not sure that this speaker was replaced from the previous owner or not?? so...I will post my pic for you guys ref. Please advise me about this issue too. Thanks in advance

#32
I just got this suitcase amp as well but my unit is "FRX7710"  What is the different between FR7710 and FRX7710 ? Anybody who play suitcase model please help
#33
I have try some Guitar amp with my Mk V .....5 or 6 models but I like JC 120 the most. At this moment looking for Twin re verb   as well but cannot find one yet. Another new amp that I have an eyes for is Dr. Z but it's very expensive.
#34
Buying / Arp 4-voice......it says RHODES!
July 12, 2009, 11:41:30 PM
I've try one....but not like it. For the price I think up to individual preference. For me I'll not paid more than $200-300  (Good condition)
#35
It's sound like your hammer bounce to something. Did you check the mechanic movement of each key after reassemble before you close the lid? May some thing is not inline inside or Tone bar adjustment is not in the position. Just guess
#36
Hi Pianotuner steveo
it's still can be play... but the bass note hardly play out when I switch to Mk V....
I get the stronger vol. but still not have enough vol. to normal condition (compare to my Roland JC 120 ) This baby have 4 speakers it should louder....I'm I right?
I never see the actual suicase amp before. I'll take a photo of inside the unit for ref. By the way If somebody have picture of original speaker of this model please guide me. I'm not sure that the speaker inside this unit is original or it's the new one Coz' I don't see the blue fender sticker on each speaker.
#37
If I would like to get this 2 things work together what should I do? I try to connect cable from out put to input of this unit but sound is very weak. After I've search in this forum it's seems that I need a preamp unit install to convert it to be suitcase model. Is that right or I need another part to get it work together as well.
Here is the pic

Mark 7 is very attractive Martin....but I've addicted to the "Vintage trend" already
#40

What should I pick and what should be the price? Please recommend.

Second to Wenol metal polishing cream too.
I've clean my Rhodes tine with this cream. It's work perfect .
#43

#44
For Mark V ... I think if you like the touching and the condition inside is clean ... go for it  man!!! $800 is not that expensive. If I were you "Top less condition" is ok for me I think
#45
Thanks for info. Guys
#46
I've buy 5 hammer for my spare part as well waiting him to ship at this moment. At this moment it's seems that somebody buy all 73 Pick up already.
#47
I'm try to search info about tine of Mark V but cannot find info that much.
Does rhodes mark V share the same tine spec. with another model? Is every tine are interchangable? From my understanding the diff point of Mark V from another model is only plastic hammer part. Any advise are appreciate. Thanks
#48
Thanks for input guys.
How about Fender super sonic Have anyone try it before?
