Parts, Service, Maintenance & Repairs / My Fender Rhodes...
« on: December 27, 2007, 12:32:11 PM »
i just bought a 88 key stage rhodes made around 1970-73, i spent $480. The condition is playable, but nothing you would want to record a record with. First I am not a pianist, so i bought this vintage peice of gear to learn notes, which will help me with my other musical endeavers. I have done quite a bit of research and I just have a few minor questions left:

1)How much (decimals) can the Rhodes fall out of tune?

2)Is it possible for a novice like me to tune it, or should i send it to a pro ?(I tried to tune it with a guitar tuner, but since i am new to understanding notes its hard for me to calibrate it)

3)Is there anything that can be done with loose keys?

4)Finaly, On the highest octave of the board the keys barely make a sound, am i being overdemanding, i mean, I know the tines are only an inch long but is it possible to get them to make a more recognizable tone?

Thanks, Aaron
