What's the deal with this amps?
Soundwise it's up there with the Twin Reverb, and defeats the clean of the Hot Rod series. I'm thinking about buying one (the RI), as i sold my JC-120? Any opinions?

Buying / Looking for a 2nd Rhodes (FiftyFour)
April 05, 2009, 02:51:03 PM
Hey guys,

I'm looking for a FiftyFour. I already have a '71 Stage 73 but its a bit to big. How much lighter is the 54 Mark II exactly?
Does anyone here own one?

Kind regards

Here is the deal. When I was younger I needed monitoring for my Roland EM-20. I was 14 at the time so my parents choose what to buy. Some crappy salesman sold us the Roland CM-30's. The monitors only left my room for really small occassions. When I need more volume I use my JC-120. I'm not satisfied with that (soundquality-wise).

My CM-30's can go EXTREMELY loud with just my iPod attached. But they cant take the broad-frequency-spectrum of my keyboards at that volume(mostly the Hammond XK-1). The speaker starts clipping. Is there any magic-box which cuts the right frequencies of my XK-1 my CM-30 won't take at higher volumes?

I also noticed when I go through a mixer (Tapco mix50) the Hammond can go louder without clipping the speaker. Why is that? Is that a limiter?

I know they're just 2 main chords. But I can't get it right like the original Badu recording.

Could someone help me out?

Hi guys,

B4 to E5 sounds a LOT more trebly than the other notes on my Rhodes.
Which screws should I turn (and in which direction) and can it be cured at all?

Thanks,
Jordy

Hi all,

I want a pre-phaser equalizer. I have bought an Roland EQ-131 (19" 31-bands). It seem to add a lot of hiss, and when I compared the bypass-mode to the normal sound (all sliders at 0) it lost a lot it's warmth.

I'm selling the EQ-131 and I'm searching for an other equalizer.
I'm interested in EQ-pedals so I can bypass and adjust it with my foot.

The MXR 10-band EQ looks really neat (with all the lights and stuff) but I'm worried the range of the EQ won't cover the whole spectrum of my Rhodes-sound (since the EQ is made for guitar)
Does anyone know between which frequencies the Rhodes is?

Greetings,
Jordy

Hi I got a question:

Is the order of which te hammonds were made XB1 XB2 XK2 XK1 XK3 (from old to new)?

Because the XK2 is out of production but the XK1 is in production?

Am I right?

Can someone make this clear?

Hi there,

My sustain-pedal looks really crap.
And my question is, how should I get this thing look good again.
It's a Fender Rhodes-pedal, so it's the silver one.
Should I sand it? Is it bullion ?

Here are some photos of the pedal. I think the green dots on the sides of the pedal are oxidation.

Dear Rhodes-lovers,

I stumbled over this little gem. I recieved it today and paid €50,- for it. There's just one problem: it misses the AC-socket. The hole is there for the socket but it isnt in there.

The green circle illustrates where the hole is for the missing AC-socket.
Where should I attach the wires for the AC-socket? Also: which adaptor do i need (I live in Europe so: 230v?)?

Could you guys please help me out?

Hi, I've tried out finding what chords are done in the middle (the whole rhodessolo through) of Herbie's Chameleon (Headhunter's album).
The Realbooks only say it's Bb Eb all the way through. Help please...

Excuse my bad english

Hi, I'm after the phasersounds of: Joe Zawinul (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F02mBkBoMQw)
Tom Schuman/Spyro Gyra (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVBCaM_DrQI)
Ambrosia (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QIWtY7gzvA&feature=related)
My question is: Why is the Bi-Phase so nice? Is it because it's an 12-stage phaser? If so: would a Boss 12-stage phaser or an Moog Moogerfooger MF-103 do? What would be a good alternative for the Bi-Phase? (priced under, say: €300?)

Greetings

If you should set 2 smallstone phasers behind each other like this:
RHODES-----SMALLSTONE-----SMALLSTONE-----AMP

is it possible to get the Mu-tron Biphase sound? The first would work as "Phasor A" and the second as 'Phasor B". And running both phasers on different speeds?

There are too many choices help me! (I'm after Richard Tee's phaser sound)

Searching for a Fender Rhodes Mark I from 1974 or earlier.
No rust please, and no fungus or stinking wood.
I want to try it first so shipping isn't a possibility.
Will pick up in entire Holland.

Can someone tell me what phaser does Lonnie Liston Smith use?

I think the above link is quite representative for his sound.

Cheers

Like the title said: Make pictures of your pedalboard and post them here (if you got any).

From 00:36 to 1:15 you see Joe Zawinul hanging above a pipe and both playing his Arp Quadra (correct me if I'm wrong). What is it? A talkbox, a vocoder?

Hey, Around April I'm gonna get my Rhodes 54 (yes 54 because my Hammond and my Leslie won't fit in my room) from my parents. They want a little bit a price indication from me.

I love the twin reverb best. But I play 3 hours a day and I've got woodenflours in my room with will hold loads and loads of dust. Is it recommended for me buying a Twin Reverb? I know I can have it repair but I want it reliable too and not changing the tubes that much (how long do standard tubes in the TR last BTW?)
