Hi,

I want to restore my Rhodes this summer and I'm starting with the tolex; the lid and all the other parts look fine, it's just the tolex that needs to be replaced.

I've been reading around the forum and there are some tips on what glue to use and how to do it. I also read that the original tolex is not made.

I started this thread to ask you where should I buy tolex in EU. I want it to be the closest possible to the original one. It's for a MkII stage with wooden keys.

How much tolex do I need?

Thank you very much. :)

Hi,

Since there's no section dedicated to forum news and problems, I'm posting this here.

Here's the problem. When I enter the forum and there are new posts, I see a red sheet next to the title of the sub-forums and threads in wich there are new posts. However, when I'm finishing reading one of the threads with new posts and I come back to the sub-forum where that thread is, the other threads that have new posts don't have the "red sheet" icon any more, even though I haven't read them yet. This happens on the whole forum.

How can I solve this?

Thank you very much. :)

Not much action around here. Most of us know Jamiroquai, I think. They were my first contact to the Rhodes piano. I didn't even know what it was when I started to listen to their music.

They have had at least two keyboardists (the first being Toby Smith), three bassists, etc. Their sound has changed. Lately, they don't seem very active. Their last album was released in 2005, and Jay Kay doesn't seem to be in very good shape.

Let's get started. Here's a link to watch one of their concerts. It occurred in 2008, at the Super Bock Super Rock music festival @ Porto, here in Portugal. It wasn't their best concert, but it's still very good.

I hope we can discuss the band and their music and post some reviews, or videos.

Cheers

Ok, here we go again. This thread is dedicated to the Latin Rhodes players, that is, to the players that play a Latin kind of sound (bossa nova, cuban jazz, etc.), whether they're actually from South/Central America or not.

In the blue forum, we had quite a few names, already. I'll try to keep this first post updated with a list of the albums and Youtube videos suggested in this thread.

Let's have some fun. :)

------------
Latin Rhodes references and suggestions on this thread

Albums:
- João Donato & Eumir Deodato - Donato Deodato (1969)
- António Carlos Jobim & Elis Regina - Elis & Tom (1974)

Youtube videos/songs:

Others:
- The Latin and Brazil Rhodes compilations on the never enough rhodes blog.

Good morning. I'm new here, i just registered today, although i had already found the forum. I'm from Portugal so please don't mind my bad english.

Anyway i'm creating this thread because i saw yesterday at Mezzo (11pm here in Portugal, 12pm in France and some other countrys) a great concert and i can't find anything about the band. All that was on the tv guide was General Electrics Live and i can't find anything about them.

I'm posting here because the singer used a Rhodes as main keyboard and, in spite of not being instrumental music, he played very well including some nice solos.

I just could understand that they we're a french band because the last music they played was sang in french.

If anyone know them i would appreciate if you posted here something about the band please, the myspace, site, whatever, i would like to listen some of their stuff.

Thankyou very much.  :)
