I have the Rhodes Suitcase that originally had the sliders and 100w amp.  The amp has been rather reliable until now. Over the years I've secured and resoldered the connectors and gone that extra mile with it.  One channel  is now distorting like a fuzz pedal that I can't turn off.  I've replaced the big 11000uF caps and checked the headphone muting jack (jumped and bypassed it to make sure) I've switched the speaker jacks to make sure all 4 speakers/wires are fine.

Lastly I swapped the 2 pcbs (for channel 1 and 2) part 012835 in the manual and the problem moved to the other channel! So I've isolated the problem to one of the 2 pcb's 012835.  I've replaced the 1.0uf cap--what should I do next?  I see transistors Q6 and Q7 (a 29b and 30b) in there but don't know if there are other known failure points?

Any advice would lift my spirits lol

Ok this is really low tech and simple...
I have a 75 Rhodes  Suitcase 73 piano that is in need of new emblems (ironically the only emblem left is the near perfect condition "Rhodes" speaker amp cabinet emblem).

I suppose my choices are "Rhodes" or "Fender Rhodes" emblems on the back of the piano top and on the front of the action rail.

Anyone ever mixed and matched emblems on the different year models? Any pics to share?

My '75 already has a mixed up look with the black speaker grill btw

Hello,

I have a 1975 Rhodes Suitcase 73.  What bench would best fit the Rhodes in terms of playing position and character?

Some guy on YouTube had a cool one with silver metal legs on it for his sparkletop.  The one I've got now has wheels on it and I'm going to end up killing myself during an exciting passage lol!

I've pretty much worshipped the Fender Rhodes (and Hammond/Leslie--sorry guys lol) since I was tiny tot and I've seen many artists play it different ways.  This is a simple question:

Harp Cover on or off?  Is there a difference in sound?  Let's hear your thoughts...lol

Mine:  I have a 1975 (19th week) wood hammered suitcase with a 1977 bottom (unfortunately I have to use a 1977 Action Rail and Preamp that I don't like that much (I plan to replace that with a Peterson preamp as soon as I find one and mod the power amp). I am about 20 keys away from finishing the Miracle Mod.  Because I am easily distracted, lol, each time I put in 4 or 5 keys that I had just Miracle Modded I tested it with the top off--I definitely can hear the mechanical action/tonebars more like that.  See, if it were a string bass, I could also mic the mechanical sounds...lol

Herbie and Joe played with the top off at times--I wonder why?  And Joe even had his ring modulator resting on top of several tone bars??????

Sorry if a solution is already posted, but I don't know what this issue is called.

We moved into a new house and I put my Hammond Organ and 1975 wood hammered Rhodes Suitcase 73 (now has an 1977 preamp and amp model with the sliders) in the basement.

The Rhodes was in storage for a couple of months and now when I play it and give it any kind of volume it will usually cut out to a hum and I lose the amplification.  I noticed that the preamp LED goes dim.

If I unplug the suitcase cable from the preamp (pop) and plug it right back in the sound comes back until I play a few notes and it cuts out again.

What's wrong? top preamp or bottom amp/preamp the issue?

I really, really want the Peterson bottom and preamp, but it's not in the budget right now.  So I'll have to use what I have.

Hi,

I have a 5pin suitcase working amp/preamp and I have my stage piano sitting on top of it.  Of course the sustain pedal from the suitcase amp wont reach through the thicker wood of the stage.  Anyone out there have a line on a bottom half of the top piano part of the suitcase?--I figured that I would transfer my insides to that that.

Thanks,
James (hampton, va)
