is the length of the control rail wood plated or is that a sticker?

hey man, those fuse sets should be pretty universal if youre in the states. if you own or are around any older high wattage electronics you could just snag a cap those. or try any electronic surplus store and look for old power supplies.

as far as the fuse, im unsure of the size for suitcases.
ihave janus speakers that may contain the fuses you need. i could check them for the exact number. it may even be labeled right above the fuse socket. it shoulnt be hard to find.

actually, i suppose my janus' are a different wattage.

wow i have never seen anything like that. that is beautiful.

contrary to the gentelman above, this is a "Rhodes". Just not a the Electro-mechanical model.

i dont think its a "Chroma". I dont think its even listed in the Models section of this site.

I say buy it and sit on it for a while.
I have no say in this event, but i i would ask $200 starting offer.

what is it listed as? a criagslist posted?

Awesome man, that means a lot. Yea we were surprised what our little BOSS 8-track could do. It sounds kinda nice if you have a decent set of speakers! funny you mention that phrase, i was trying to persuade the guys to add another where you mentioned, or even as the ending. after all that they actually cut a few measures out of the bridge to my dismay, but what can ya do. And i do LOVE stops, i admire how Wordman put it, might use that to convince the guys to be open to accents like that.

but hey, thanks for the time you spent looking it over. This is only 1 of 4 we put down that night. I might even post another up here for the same reason.

That mp3 player is one of 2 that godaddy provides for temporary hosting on their server. They allow 1 song to be uploaded along with a few basic pages free of charge since i found that its about $12 a month to have it hosted by a company. the only thing; they put that annoying add above our banner. so im thinking i can wait until my buddy can actually host us on our University server for free!

thanks again for your input!

New live band recording. Were are actually thinking of heading into the studio to record this cut.

i would appreciate any constructive criticism on the structure and overall quality of this track(not including the sound quality since its blueprint).
ive heard some structure issues as well as some vocalist issues. please honestly tell us what you think so we can improve our sound. Eventually we want to record an EP to distribute to our local friends.
basically, tell me if this is worth the effort, or start back at the drawing board.

the track is hosted here at VIBRANCEMUSIC.INFO

thanks!!

a total peeve of mine,
an engineer convinced me to leave my janus set up at home, just to direct Inject into a "nice compressor".  I was horrified after a whole day spent at the studio. Every track sounded like i was playing a shitty Motif or fantom.  no definition in the lower register, and over expression in the upper. i was this close to just ripping of the harp cover and back the tines out to fundamental but at that point i could care less about the tracks. i didnt want to sacrifice my perfect voice for my amps. i couldnt believe i was dumb enough to leave my janus, or even my silverface twin reverb back at home. Ive learned my lesson.

anyone else come across the same issue?

i own a 1979,
with a 32 band eq i beleive you can capture pretty much any voice out there.
if any difference i would say the late rhodes have less of a cut then pre 1975.

if its not the pickups malfunctioning,

the #1 rule is utter constancy throughout the harp. each tone bar and tine move and adjust differently then then the previous one.  some move vertically, but some move ever which way so its tough to strike perfection without a lot of time and effort into your harp. i suggest using taking out the harp screws and pull the harp up so its vertical. adjust every tine to the highest overtone you can produce regardless of the volume. Loosen all your pickups, Using a thin shim(whichever distance you choose, see manual), place the shim(spacer) between the tine and pickup, push the  pickup until it contacts the shim hold and tighten.  Adjust every pickup to they are at a consistent distance from the tine, then pull(loosen) the tines slightly out of pure overtone. it should be your ideal voice. This will correct the volume and tonal differences you might hear from neighboring  keys.  IF YOUR ELECTRONICS ARE SOLID.

clear your schedule and spend a night with your harp.
have fun!

cheers.

people,
hes looking for some advice, not to be belittled. just explain what a sustain pedal is rather than linking a wiki article haha!

anyways, it seems you have a MK1 stage(legs+2 knobs) and also a MK1 "suitcase" model which has the stereo vibrato and eq.
The suitcase piano originally was mounted on a large speaker cabinet which also contained the sustain pedal. This is quite a find!

many rhodes pianos are recovered from elderly estates. this is how i came across my rig.

if you remove the plastic harp cover, you should see the label and a few numbers inked on. there should be a 4 digit number in which the first two is the week of the year, and the last two digits; the year the harp was finished.

a mk1 stage piano in medium condition can go for around $500 to $800 depending on location.

if your other rig is in fact a suitcase piano, without the speaker cab. it can run about $200 $400

if you let us know those serial numbers, we could make a better estimation pictures even better,
and thats if youre looking to sell it.
i encourage you to plug em in and see how you vibe with it. These pianos have pure tone, excellent source for any digital effect, not as if they would need any.

let us know.

how are the grommets and springs?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTNucFvfZ5c&feature=channel

this is as close of an example that i could find. here you can hear all the notes in the chord even in the lower register.  it seems my setup the keys are too hot and percussive, sometimes a note is lost amidst the others. its really difficult to have consistency throughout the board, since my tines move all over vertically and horizontally when adjusted. My grommets look fine but they could be worn, not flattened tho.

Cheers,

My MK1979 Janus-1 and I have been having some trouble. We cant seem to dial in a smooth voice that we both enjoy. My group is in the studio next weekend, and i thought i would put some time into her.
Lately ive been playing upper almost pure overtone with a fundamental bass section. I play in a Rock/Soul group in which you could imagine how it wouldn't fit. i just realized this. so im might as well set her up in a fundamental voice to bring it back a little out of the mix.  anyways.... just a few questions.

what are the usual signs of wear in the tines? do they become weak, or is the just the physical bending of the tine that renders replacement?

Ive hear the term "Mark 5'ed", i only assume that its the act of upgrading mk1 hardware to Mk5 standard. Would anyone know what that would entail?

oh, I was even thinking of bypassing the rail EQ and just running the harp into a 32band EQ to further fine tune the mids, then out to the Janus 1 set up. Since the stereo Janus speakers are so touchy sonically,

anyways, i would appreciate your two cents.
cheers
