For Sale / Wurlitzer 206a FOREST GREEN/ mod for easy move
« on: April 16, 2019, 05:49:59 PM »
for sale-

Wurlitzer 206a in a custom Forest Green/Emerald tolex/top.
Brand new grillcloth
Brand new Vintage Vibe amplifier
Brand new faceplate and knobs

-The action has been gone over
-balance rail pins lubricated
-action centers lubricated
-new amplifier and wiring installed, QUIET AMP
-slide out tray on the side for beers!

here’s the real kicker
it’s been modified to be chopped for easy movement-

take the speaker baffle forward, unplug the speaker cab, and pick up the top and move it.
This makes it WORLDS easier to move from place to place. When put back together it’s solid and steady enough for everyone but keith emerson to jump
on.

With slight modification it could be modified to be chopped for gigging as well.

$1900

For Sale / Wurlitzer 215v - $2500 (Nashville Pickup)
« on: April 16, 2019, 05:46:30 PM »
For sale is a Wurlitzer 215v

This model is the Mac daddy Wurli for studios.
4 speakers (2 front and 2 rear facing), its got a HUGE sound going.
Casters make it very easy to move around your space
Sick looks, its slick.
Grounded properly, pretty dang quiet amp for a vintage amp, its got a vibey sound.
This is the 200a model internally, sounds great, no overbearing ground hum, no loud hiss.

Aux out, Headphone out with speaker shutoff, tape input and output (originally for teachers/students to play along)
Keybed has been regulated, lubricated, cleaned. Plays great, and in tune.

If you're looking for a great studio piece to inspire and create on, this is it.

Its got a few scratches on the top and a bump and a scrape here and there but overall is in great shape and looks the part.

You'll notice it has some extra controls. its equipped to link to a visualizer if you can find one! I cannot speak to the operational status of the visualizer parts because I have no way to test it, but it could be cool if you find one down the line.

$2500 or best offer

For Sale / Anyone interested in a 215v with the visualizer?
« on: March 11, 2019, 07:56:14 PM »
Hey all! I've got a 215v and I have the chance to grab a visualizer for it tomorrow. I was planning on selling my 215v without the visualizer but if any collectors out there want to jump on this shoot me a PM. I'll probably pass on getting the visualizer if no one reaches out since it won't really help me resale this thing in Nashville.

Thanks

Like the doctor said. The Vintage vibe is a little more driven sonically. The two amps are also different circuits. The vintage vibe being closer to the original design than the warneck. I've installed quite a few vintage vibe ones and been very happy with them. I may try a warneck soon.

The Wurlitzer Electric Piano / Re: Wurlitzer 206a - To chop or not to chop?
« on: December 31, 2018, 10:58:10 AM »
I've got a 215v that I'm planning that above chop. I've done it with wooden dowels and plan next to do it with piano balance rail pins to keep it tight. Never seen the pedal and legs idea inside though, thats very clever.

If you're planning the chop, make sure to put a 8ohm load on that speaker output when you disconnect the speakers. otherwise you'll learn the hard way like I did. I have a 206a that disconnects only for movement and you can't tell the difference when its together or apart that it comes into two pieces.

This this have a working Keynote visualizer???

No unfortunately not! But if you know where I can get one please let me know!

The Wurlitzer Electric Piano / Re: Leveling a Harp
« on: December 13, 2018, 01:33:17 AM »
I've been using balance rail/ front rail shims for it. Its what I had seen in the 5 other pianos I had refurbed so I figured it would be good.

So true, but at least I can get notes up to pretty good sustain. All but one or two on each harp.

Hey all,

Long time reader/hobby refurb guy.

I'm working with some 1969 Wurlitzer student models and the harps have not been shimmed and I'm trying to get the harp  un-tweaked. Any tips from you pro guys on how best to shim the harp and maximize ring time across the piano?

@ Rr.

Yes it is!

15
How did you end up getting those rusted tuning springs loose? I have the same problem here on a Rhodes Bass

16
Good to  know thanks!

Is there also some weird effect when you turn the trem up all the way?

17
Hi guys,

Currently re capping a wurli and a bit new to this. I'm using just some music as a sound source now through the amp and I'm noticing that as the volume is turned up, so does the frequency range of the amp. Almost like it's raising the freq on a low pass filter. Is this normal or should I anticipate this dissapearing as I continue to recap the board?

It's a 1969 revision 206 amp btw

The Wurlitzer Electric Piano / Re: Jig inside wurly: what is it?
« on: March 21, 2017, 11:12:23 AM »
Yeah, that was to keep students from unplugging the headphones/microphone from the module below the keyboard on the 206a model. Wonder why its inside the piano and not below it?

I thought I saw them sell for 5 grand. I think the price was $5,334 after taxes/fees. I was going to purchase but that wasn't worth it for me.

Hi guys!

Refurbishing a Rhodes Piano Bass for the first time. I have experience refurbishing some rhodes and Wurlitzer's but wondering if theres anything I need to know for the bass.

First: Damper felts and Grommets/screws, do they just follow the same as a typical Rhodes? I need to replace all of them on this particular one, its pretty beat.

Cleaning pickups, these things are a bit corroded, but they do all work. How do you typically clean these?

Thanks

The Wurlitzer Electric Piano / Wurlitzer 206a Amp Trouble
« on: January 23, 2017, 06:08:24 PM »
So I purchased a 206a and just finished chopping it and modifying the speaker wiring to let me disconnect and reconnect the base.

Here's what I did. I took the red and black wire that were wired into the speaker switcher, snipped them before that switch and wired them straight to the speakers by means of a 1/4 jack installed into the case and a 1/4 cable to the speakers. I turned it on and it was working for a solid 10 seconds and then I saw a small spark around the amp to volume switch output on the PCB and the volume dropped/amp distorted.

I'm hoping someone can let me know if its just a blown cap or if I did something horrendously wrong by bypassing that switch.

Here's the sound its currently making:

Thanks guys

Thanks!
