yes  the rail and the plastic top are from a stage 73 and I must say that resize the top is quite difficult

the idea for this piano was to create a look close to a piano bass ,

some others customs to come soon

rob
it seems that the higher hammer tips have not been changed ,
and after a close inspection all the parts are originals ,
I think that  this piano has not been played a lot since 1977 ,

the metallic part of   the rail is black and the rhodes name is near gold ,
the volume / treble/bass names are black

I've changed the knobs for new ones ,

otherwise I made the keyboard piedestal modification , but I did not voiced the
harp , it has been by Harold Rhodes himself
#19
hi guys
I did a demo of the rare clavinet L  ; see:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFr6sTCWRWQ&feature=channel_page

recorded with a presonus eureka preamp
#20
hi guys
finally here's the  page  about the rhodes home piano on my site ;
I've bought this piano from Mr Harold Rhodes Junior some months ago ;
but I was too busy to do the page earlier.

http://olivier-grall.yusynth.net/instruments/Pianos/RHODES/home%20piano/page%20home%20piano.htmln

next to come the prepiano

#23
yes , the difference is that the stage model have got a different tone correction than the piano bass
please see this topic including the diagram to know the rhodes keyboard range

http://ep-forum.com/smf/index.php?topic=5160
#24
the denon / columbia elepian and the maestro have got the same mechanic.
but no preamp or amp in the elepian just a passive tone eq and volume

surely the same manufacturer for the mechanic but as I know
gibson did the design and assembly of the maestro for the american market
#25
absolutely wonderful
congrats and thanks for sharing

that remind me when I bougth my first new rhodes in 1980

about the EK10 , if it had never been used I 'm pretty sure that it's not working,
but someone must go for  it  , and also the 54 too .
#26
thanks guys

no steveo this not your rail , I'll us it in another piano

I'm actually working on 2 others rhodes , I'll post some pics when done
#27
Hi Boys

anyone here have got these informations ?

#29

#30

Ben , what a perfect job !!

thanks for sharing and to save this piano from the trash ,
it' a real pleasure to know that there's another preserved sparkle rhodes on the planet
#32
Rob your home piano is so fine !
great video too , congrats I like it very much ,

I'll post a page on my site about my own one I've purchased
from Harold Rhodes Jr soon .
I'll transmit the serial numbers and year....

I confirm that the upper hammer tips are the same on my piano ,
and also  the hole under the keyboard is present , in fact there are exactly the same pianos

:D
#33
first time was billy preston with the beatles "get back" but at that time I did'nt know that was an electric piano , even can't imagine that electric pianos exist I was too young ,  then the French band : MAGMA , then Chick Corea , George Duke , Jan Hammer
#34
the E7 is identical , it's a D6,in a different case
#35
hi Guys
I'm looking for the schematics of the FENDER RHODES "Satellite" amplifier ,
master and slave if possible,
in the Rhodes service manual there's only the one regarding the
Rhodes "Super Satellite" model

thanks in advance for sharing

The Fender Rhodes Electric Piano / Rhodes patents
December 15, 2008, 02:34:03 AM
well done Ak_attack
very interesting !
thanks
#37
the sound of  the clavinet part is exactly the same than a model E7 ,
there's only a small difference with the touch it's a bit slower due to the pianet mechanic part .
otherwise the pianet is sound is the same than the T model ;

mixing the 2 sounds is very nice
#38
thanks guys !
:D

about the black top , just a very good cleaning with black soap .

about recording , just using a Presonus Eureka preamp then into the line input
of the Mac book , no eq , no comp.

I'm actually working on a suitcase 88 , it will be in a "white sparkle" finish
I'll keep you inform
#39

see the butterfly 270 electronic piano on my page :
http://olivier-grall.yusynth.net/instruments/Pianos/WURLITZER/page%20piano%20wurlitzer.html

#41

Buying / Is this a suitcase or a stage?
November 03, 2008, 04:01:46 PM
look under the piano if there are 4 legs holders a cross bar plate and a  guide cup for the pedal rod , it's a stage including a preamp ,

Buying / Bidding on Silvertop on Ebay
October 08, 2008, 02:11:04 PM
go on Benjamin , I hope you'll get it , it's a very beautiful one
#45
yes sean , the 49 notes piano bass is really a beautiful instrument , it was in relative good condition when I bought it , I did not refelt the hammers it's a difficult job , I've just sand them a bit .
it seems that the green pickups were mounted between 1965 and 1967 ,
I'm not absolutely sure , perhaps someone on the forum could confirm.
I don't have any diagram of the damper mechanism but there are no spring.
I can send some pics but I don't know how to post on this forum ( yes I know shame on me)
#46
hi boys
see the instruments restorations page on my site
including some rhodes of course :
http://olivier-grall.yusynth.net/restoration/page%20restauration.html

btw I'm really expecting that it will be mine again ,
" hey come back home sweety ! "

come on gesyter let it back home and it'll stay in my future museum

:D
#48
hi guys
I've updated my rhodes page , you'll see a yellow student in a near mint conditiion from 1969 and a suitcase 73 mk2 .

I'll post a vid of the yellow student on my youtube page soon

http://olivier-grall.yusynth.net/instruments/Pianos/RHODES/page%20rhodes.html

#49
of course it's a mod , I suppose that it's probably a kind of tuning regulation system each knobs corresponding to a note from C to B , perhaps to get the organ perfectly in tune or create custom tuning .

I'm also considering to record mine and add the samples on my site.

no problem to use a pedal from an older rhodes model , fully compatible
