hi, i just installed a custom version of the miracle mod, by adding bumps

it feels really light compared to how it was. there is little hammer bounce now. whats more amazing is it took me about an hour. i  highly recomend this mod to anyone with the same action - mine is a '77 with plastic hammers with felt on the bottom, i left the felt on the bottom of the hammers, and put the bump on the edge of the pedalstal, it plays amazing now, it also reduced the key bounce.

next i am going to replace the grommets, and maybe extend the 2nd to top tip range down to middle C!!!!!
#52
its sounding a lot better. more work to do yet, next is to replace the grommets, add a miricle mod, and then a backcheck mod. then new tolex
#53
gonna sound amazing after this
#54
how much would it cost if you provided the tolex? i can get it for free, but it isn't proper fender tolex, but it should do the job.
#55
would it be possible to send you my rhodes cabinet via dhl or someone, have it retolexed and sent back?? how much would you charge for this? i could provide tolex, and do all the prep work.
#56
hi, ive decided to try retolexing as i can get tolex for free of my mate. does anyone know the mesurements? im gonna get it pre cut.

thanks,

martin

The Fender Rhodes Electric Piano / stand for rhodes
March 25, 2012, 06:27:42 PM
would this stand be strong enough for a rhodes? it says it'll handle 80kg

just got this for £450 ($714) needs a lube, and the bit that holds the sustain dowel needs glueing, apart from that plays well!

Other Keyboards & Software Synths / Re: 73-key boards
February 20, 2012, 11:46:43 AM
ive had a nord stage for 5 years, and i love it. i tried a SV-1, which was really good, but i still think the nord is better. the new nord stage 2 is one of the most amazing boards ive ever tried. that on top of a rhodes would be my dream rig. (maybe a prophet as well.

my mate sold one last year for £650!

The Wurlitzer Electric Piano / snapped a reed screw
July 21, 2011, 01:31:08 PM
hi all, in have just tried to fit a new reed. spent 2 hours tuning it, got it bang in tune, and screewed the reed to tight, making it snap. do i have to drill it out????
#71
does anyone know who can repair and restore wurlitzer electric pianos in north west uk?? i have an ep 200a, which needs the action setting up and lubed, keys need leveling, and it could probably do with a tuning..

thanks

Amps, Effects & Recording Techniques / new tubes
April 29, 2011, 01:47:59 PM
im about to totally revalve my traynor ygl3a with JJ's. i have read on the net about biasing, and i cant figure out if thats if your changing valve types eg; el34's to 6L6's or if your changing the make eg eh to jjs. it currently has 4, 12ax7's, 4 el34's and an el84. can i just change the valves? or is there more to it then that?? the text on the current valves has faded, so i cant see what make they are, but i think they might be mullards.

my friend has played the modern keyboard in question, and it does have a better action he says, also all the demoes are out of a class d amp, maybe they sound better thru a twin. sorry if ive broke the rules. but the vv piano sounds amazing i think, more of an early 70's sound.
#75
hi all, im going to attempt to build myself a 1x12 speaker cab on monday!! i have copied the dimentions of the traynor darkhorse.

http://www.thomann.de/gb/traynor_darkhorse_cab_112.htm

has anyone ever made their own cab on here??  does anyone have any advice/tips for me???

thanks
#76
i think the new ones havent been demo'd properly. i need to hear one through a twin before i make my mind up. a friend of mine who is md for corrine bailey rae tried one and he says its the best thing he as ever played, and he has a mint '79 mark one. i think the two need to be compared side by side. also the new ones just might not have the best set up you like on the demo's

try a harley benton GA15 they're about £115 great littl valve amp

A ''mod'' Fender Rhodes logo, i put my name on it, just for fun
(made with Soldworks 2009)

What `re the extra 2 knobs for???
#91
i have a traynor ygl3a which is like a twin but with el84 out put valves insteaed of 6L6's. i am going to have them changed to 6L6's to give it a twin sound. they are a lot cheaper than twins as they are not that well known.

Amps, Effects & Recording Techniques / ohms
March 04, 2009, 03:52:21 PM
i've ended up ordering a traynor amp head;

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=160318106214&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=006

and a fender bandmaster 2x12 cab;

http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_bandmaster_212_vm.htm

without realising it, i've ordered them both, and the amp is 4 ohms and the cab is 8 ohms. is that a problem???
