Yes, you're right, there are damper tension issues. But I fine tuned all dampers, besides the 3 lower ones... Mine is a 79'  mk1 suitcase(I'll put this on my signature, I think that everyone should do the same:))
#202
No one, Especially for the first problem?
#203
yes jim, that works with the stage piano, but I think ween is talking about the suitcase one.
#204
that you are talking is the amplifier, the pre-amplifier is the "thing" that jim described.

I don't know how to answer your question tough

Hi

I tuned my dampers when I received my rhodes, but I can't figure how to do this. On the lower notes, due to the tines vibrate so much (especially when you hit hard), they end up with beating the dampers(only when the sustain pedal is down).
I can't lower the dampers more, because if I do that, when the sustain is up, the tines keep vibrating. does this happen to you?

Other problem is that my left channel stopped working, my left speakers don't work, and the left earphone too. I tested to change the wires with the right amplifier, and only one left speaker worked, so I guess that one amplifier and one speaker dead:(. Any tips?

Thanks for reading

And how do you be able to connect it to a normal amplifier, don't forget the 4-5 pin cable...
The sustain pedal is not detachable, you can look to it by opening the suitcase back.

Ok guys, problem solved, a friend of mine borrow me this home made beauty:

What a sound!

My '79 Suitcase has an FR7710 amplifier, in the manual says that it accepts only 600ohm impedance minimum, but I tried with mine, that got 100ohm, and it sounds good if I don't push the volume too much.
Does this affect the amplifier in a bad way?

Thanks for all your answers :)
I spent this night adjusting the dampers and cleaning it in the outside.
For what I saw, this rhodes was serviced recently it was all cleaned inside, the pedestal felts look new and dampers are new too(but they were in need of adjustment).
Action is very good, I only have too adjust the tines now, some notes are higher than others, and some are intense than others to.
I've already red some technotes about this, but can you help me with some tips?

Tjcombs: This is a '79 and sounds wonderful (but it can still sound better
:D )
Thanks

My "new" '79 suitcase 73 Rhodes:

It is in very good looking condition, but some tuning and adjustment is needed...

Do you know what are these black things on the forks?:

It is better to make an adjustment of the tines, don't you think?:

These hammers don't seem to form a very smooth line...:

Thanks for looking

The Wurlitzer Electric Piano / wurlitzer or rhodes

Guess what is mine... :P

I can't tell you that, I've never played a plastic key rhodes, but remember, this is still a mechanical piano, and keys, besides being plastic, don't work with springs, but with gravity, like on the previous rhodes, so I think that they should not feel like a digital keyboard.
Mk2 plastic key owners will tell you better. Anyone?
#214
By the pictures, I think the keybed is black, so it means they are plastic keys.
I think £700 would be a decent price, due to prices that rhodes usually reach on Europe.
Is the price high enough for him to offer the tines? :P
#215
Those 1972 models weren't hybrid hood-plastic with replaceable tips yet?
#216
Great! What year?
#217
This is the concentric knobs one, not one of the last mk1's.
Looks pretty in shape, and if the seller says that is in good mechanic condition.
This price on Europe is considered as a very good one, but I don't know if it is in the US too, because prices on US are lower. I'll let the Americans talk by itself :)
#219
Thanks Ben, I'll post some pics soon, I'm really happy, it's a mk1 73(one of the last) :D

Matt, that is easy to say when you live in America, the country where rhodes was born.
If I want to buy a Portuguese guitar I won't be looking on Ebay for sure, I look for it in my country.
I bought a Rhodes ('79 suitcase in lovely mechanical and cosmetic condition) 4 days ago on Germany by Ebay, I paid a bit for it, but there aren't many alternatives, because shipping and taxes for Portugal are higher than the much Lower prices that you get on Ebay America, and still doesn't compensate!
#221
Nice Looking one you found, congratulations;)

I see in many videos, especially from miles davis, where Jarret or Corea use the rhodes without the harp cover. For what purpose did they do that?

I'm bringing this subject up again, because of the 600ohm impedance required, is this true, or is a mistake, shouldn't it be 60?

Thanks

Thanks for your answer:)

Is it possible to use a Zoom Guitar Effects Pedal on a rhodes? My brother have one for his guitar and I'm almost buying a rhodes suitcase, so I'm curious to know if this is possible.

Thanks
#227
Yes Ben, it helped a lot indeed.

Thanks a lot :D

Sorry if many of these questions were answered before, but I red almost all posts and I'm still in doubt in some areas.
I'm trying to buy a Rhodes and I like you to help me on this:

1º- Wich is the best model (year), considering the materials used on the hammers and keys, for durability and playability?

2º- I think, for what I've red, that the stage rhodes, wich is the one I'm interested to buy, doesn't have the tremolo feature. It is possible to add that? Is it expensive?

3º- Can rhodes service be done by a good acoustic piano technician?

4º- Can you explain me better that 5pin cable stuff?

Thanks so much in advance for reading this :D
