The Fender Rhodes Electric Piano / Re: My new Rhodes!
January 25, 2011, 10:41:32 PM
I'm not a specialist, but this looks like post-75 to me, 76 maybe. And by the pics, it looks like the hammer are plastic, and the keys are wood.

1973, spot the differences with the Headhunters.

Nice version of Butterfly (Herbie) by him:

Nice sounds here, it's a shame that most ones are not available now.

My try on Wayne Shorter's "Myiako", Aebersold Play-a-long:

Recorded out of the stereo outputs of the suitcase.

Nice!

Yes, a very large man indeed:)

It seems that the suitcase Rhodes sign was made to break, mine is missing, and I think that I'll never buy one...

Thanks for the comments

http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/FastTrackPro.html

This is straight from A and B channel outputs (for stereo), No EQ. Recorded with CoolEdit Pro, and Jamey Aebersold track background added.
In this track I demonstrate a bit of solo Rhodes in the beginning for better sound  demonstration. Don't mind the playing too much! ;o)

Hope you enjoy:

Don't you have only to power up the sattelite speakers and connect them to the channel A and B outputs?

Amps, Effects & Recording Techniques / Herbie's Amp

Recorded direct it sounds very different, as you say, with too much treble, but what I hear when I play it is the overdriven sound of the headhunters era.

Amps, Effects & Recording Techniques / Herbie's Amp

Hi,

With some study on the rhodes manual and with some luck, I was able to get close to Herbie's rhodes sound, with a bright kit mod and with a wah pedal with treble on the maximum position (heel up). Please try this and say me something about. My wah is a cry baby.
#81
Sorry, this is already being discussed in other sub forum
#83
Try this one with George Duke and Billy Cobham, wait for the rhodes:

"Tuesday, December 11: We are very sad to say that John R. McLaren is in the hospital due to serious illness, and for the time being production has been halted. Since we normally build-to-order, we regret that we are not able to accept new orders at this time. We anticipate that John will recover fairly soon and then we can resume production and taking orders. Of course, we will post this news here on the Major Key home page."

Hi,

Some of you may already have seen, but the ones who didn't, check the MK7 Site and watch the "Rhodes in the House" Clips, especially the ones with Frank McComb And Kenneth Crouch, very herbie style;)
#86
Very nice. What's that on the background of the suitcase? An organ?
#87
That piano bar would be great, but is there a pratical way to silence the acoustic piano?
#88
And all the rhodes is midi-fied? that's my project to mine, when I have some money, after I buy an acoustic grand
#89
Nice:), why you call it hybrid? It looked to me that the bass is not with the phaser, is that it?
#91
Thanks for sharing, but it was already on the site:) :

I tried to record from my pre amp outputs on the cabinet of my suitcase rhodes to my home system line in and it didn't record stereo, does this happen to you?
#93
This is a test from my suitcase, recording from the phones out to my Iriver H300.
Later I eliminated the hissing with cooledit 2.1 automatic hissing reduction (On the without vibrato version). Treble is maximum and bass is on +1:

As a rhodes fan, I say you should sell the suitcase and buy a stage, because there are many people that will love to have a suitcase
#96
The dampeners were fine:

The problem was the pedal, that was not raising enough, so I adapted something to put the dampener cluster higher when hitting the pedal(provisory):

The low notes vibrate freely now, with the pedal down, and are dampened fine without the pedal(with some minor adjustments, that were needed because of the height change):)
#97
thanks for your help, but I discovered what the problem was (a year passed since I got the rhodes), later today I'll post some photos, I'm real happy now :D
#98
So the best way is to take all of them off the piano and put them straight?
Mine are those in groups of 5 or 6, and I think the problem is that my felts are not all of the same height:

#99
Where should I bend it?

Thanks

Glad to help:)
