Hi there,

Very new to the forum. I just got my first Rhodes, Stage Mark I 73 from 1973. It sounds pretty damn good at the moment, but I ordered some replacement parts like grommets, new dampers, etc.

Currently running it through my roommates' Hot Rod Deville, and I think it sounds great though I know people rave about a Twin Reverb. Could somebody explain the differences in sonic quality/character of the two?

Also, I was looking into pre-amps for my Stage if I wanted to run it through a mixer and PA situation. Any recommendations for pre-amps that are around $500 or less?

There are so many things that might differ between different models of Twins not just related to circuitry but also tubes, speakers, etc. That being said, I would suspect you would find the Twin sounds less compressed and certainly harder to overdrive...although both have a lot of clean headroom. Some of the Hot Rod series app sound a little loose too particularly in the bass register.

I quite like this DI box for use with PA: https://www.radialeng.com/product/firefly
