How to properly ship (and pack) a CLAVINET D6, by plane...

Hi People!  I really need help about this! 

I moved 2 years ago to Spain (I was living in Argentina), and my Clav D6 is still there. I´ve contacted a very good company for shipping from South America to Europe, and they ship with all the customs taxes and legal papers. 

I trust in them....However, I really can´t trust in the employees of the airports...I'very afriad of my clavinet suffering big impacts...so, I was thinkhing maybe I can remove some fragile parts, like the mics and the preamp...any suggestion that you can bring to me I would be very gratefull. This is really a big step, and I dont want my clavinet destroyed during the moving.

Did anybody travelled/moved a clavinet by plane? also do you have some packaging recommendations?

The member "Ozdoc" in that thread is my Classic Keys co-author David Robertson. During the production of our book, I shipped many vintage keyboard instruments from the US  to David in Australia, with a shipper who crated them in the manner he describes, with forklift standoffs.  Over the course of several years, I don't believe any of the instruments arrived with any damage.

Over the last year I've been handling the shipping on Rhodes, Wurlitzers, Large synths all over the place here at RetroLinear.
Best bet is a wooden crate at least 1/2" Plywood, add 2" Cell cushioning foam in every direction.
4x4" blocks on the bottom to allow handling via pallet jacks and forklifts.
$250 crate is a sound investment for instruments selling for thousands of dollars

When shipping a clav its import to make sure the pickups are tight, no movement-   supported internally, all it takes is 1 good smash and those pickups crack-game over mojo dead.
