I just bought a 270 and am working on it. Mostly things seem OK, but I have one note (an A) that needs help. The issue is at low velocity the hammer doesn't reach the reed. Being a newbie (and I did read the regulation section of the manual) it's not clear to me what the solution is to this particular issue. Thanks in advance for any help and thank you for your patience!

VV capstan tool came yesterday, and after several counterclockwise rotations, the low velocity notes are sounding. The capstan is much higher than any other key on the instrument, so it makes me wonder if there is something fundamentally wrong with that hammer. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks again.

No, not likely the hammer. Check your key dip. See if the neighboring white keys press down about the same amount as the A. If they do, you may have a piece of felt that fell off (maybe at the back of the key)  The best tool for Wurlitzer capstans is sold on eBay. If a felt fell off, it's likely laying inside somewhere, just use titebond to re-attach.

The felt on the key is fine. Everything seems similar on adjacent keys except for the adjustment. It is playing well enough for now. I probably will need a real technician to get it much better. Thanks for your reply!

If you can post a short video, we should be able to figure it out. Play the key slowly as well as normally and fast. Concentrate the camera on the one key and compare it to a neighboring key that works fine. Have you checked the dip? It might be shallow. Or something may be laying under the front of the key- guitar pick, paper clip, a coin, etc.
