The two flat pieces of wood along the back of the case

What is the function of the two flat pieces of wood along the back of the case bottom? Are they just spacer/stops for alignment? Can I get away without them?

Hi :-)

Not every piano has them, these are mostly seen on MK2's.

These are there to support the harp cover in the middle to avoid bending if you put another keyboard on top.
