Hi everyone, first time poster....

I always though that the Stage pianos had legs and no tremolo, and the suitcase pianos have the speaker and the tremolo. Is this incorrect.

The reason is I just bought 73 Stage (at least that is what it said on the inside, that has legs and the Tremolo and a Janus one.

All the picture of 73's with tremolo seem to be suitcases....

Thanks

Well, maybe somebody built the vibrato unit into the stage? Seems to be the easiest way.

I thought I read somewhere that you could get a stage with the janus system upgrade that would incorporate vibrato to panning sides.  Basically it's a suitcase with the cabinet split and away from the keyboard.  If this is true you might have a pretty cool / rare setup.

It seems I read somewhere that they used to sell the Janus 1 system with a namerail preamp for the stage. A bit fuzzy on this though. Anybody know for sure?

I HAVE A 1974 STAGE 88 WITH BUILD IN PREAMP. IT HAS A VERY NICE VIBRATO IF YOU BE ABLE TO ACTIVATE IT FROM THE ITS  CABLE TO A 1/2 JACK ONE CONNECT TO A COMMON AMP.

Thanks...... That makes sense. This is the only 73 Stage I have seen with the preamp. Are they rarer?

Thanks for all your input

I think "less common" is the best way to put it...the Super Satellite amp upgrade seems to have been popular in the Stage Mark I's, so you've got a lot of those pianos floating around out there with the preamp controls on the front panel.  What's rare is to find one of these that still has the speakers to go with it!

My piano came with the Janus I speaker.
One of the preamp outs didn't work. But I open it up, sprayed some compressed air in and adusted the input. Now everything works great.
Records very nicely.

I really wanted a suitcase so I had the amp but now I am happy I found this one. It is nice to have the an amp that is not so cumbersome.

During restoration I was fortunate to get an original Peterson pre-amp installed. The name rail already had the holes, just switched out the cover plate. Sounds great.
