Improving action and Protek?

Hello,
I have read that spraying silicon on the pedestal felt or applying other lubricants is the best way to improve the action on a Rhodes. I have also read that silicon spray can sometimes be bad, would it be possible to apply Protek with a paintbrush (I don't have the spray version of this) to improve the action? I used it to lubricate all the action centers on my Wurlitzer and it did wonders (it was reccomended by a piano tech who nay-sayed the Wurlitzer manuals Naptha and silicon ointment). I was wondering if anyone has done this and if it is possible. Thanks!
