Rhodes piano bass: changing the pickup coils arrangement ?

I have a Fender Rhodes piano bass that needs some work on the pickups: some are missing, others have gone bad.
Is it a problem to change the original pickup coils arrangement (2 by 2) in for instance 3 by 3 or 6 by 6 ?
Does anyone have done this before ?

It is straightforward to change the wiring patterns on the pickups. The larger the groups the less the output. Ensure that all groups are the same size otherwise some notes will be louder than others even after voicing.
