I'm having trouble getting my damper release bar off. Mine doesn't have the screws on it like it shows in the service manual. There's a sticker on it that reads "To remove damper release bar remove clips at end. Slide damper release bar by compressing spring and lift out." I removed the one and only clip and slid it to one side but it won't lift out. Can someone please help me?

never heard of that... do you have a digital camera to post a picture?  I haven't seen a rhodes with the kind of bar you're talking about.

after you remove the clip (which should be around a spring? you gotta really push the damper rail aginst the spring side and compree the spring, this should allow the opposite end to pop out.

Still no luck. I did what you said Jim but the other end won't pop out.

physically speaking, the rod must come out of the dampener bar or it would bend.  So somehow you need to get the pin out of the wooden piece on the left side.  I don't think the right side has anything to do with it.  try compressing the spring and seeing if you can move the pin/rod thing.  if not, try to compress that white plastic ring around the pin, as it might be some kind of holster.

I've got the same system in my Rhodes and I did the same thing Jim suggested and it worked for me, so the only other thing I can suggest is to check if the pin (the one without the spring) isn't loose so you have to push it back with a set of pinchers. Does this make any sense? I hope so...

the pin shouldn't come out on this era of damper rail. it's crimped in there.
