Keys Question
« on: August 15, 2006, 02:24:18 PM »
Hi, This post remember me that i have a question:
Is this normal that i have red ''pad'' on my keys

and i see other pictures that they dont have these, they have it on the base of the hammer!
is this a différence between the older Fender Rhodes and the Rhodes?
which give a bether action?

An other Question, Why this Rhodes got a bunch of little mtal pieces, is this for more lighter action? is this a good idea when your keys are much heavy (like my old rhodes that certainly take humidity)

it's just a matter of what version you have - probably your rhodes is from 76 or 77. mine looks the same except for the weights. if you look at the bottom side of the hammers - there you've got your felts!

i believe this is some sort of weight modification.  Probably attempting to make the action better, but probably not great.  I think it's trying to make the keys snap back quicker being on the far end of the fulcrum of the key, but its certainly not a factory thing.

that looks like a post-factory modification, to make the action heavier and faster.
