hey all.  so i'm currently weighing all my options and trying to decide exactly what i want to do to start fixing up my rhodes.  the current hammer tips are definitely old, if not original ('76) and seem to have pretty significant grooves in some of them.  i just want to know your opinions on whether you've found that replacing old hammer tips was worth the money/effort.  also, should i keep the ones that are old but not quite worn as the others?  or should i just go ahead and replace them all.  thanks a lot.

don't tell anyone, but, if they're the square type, you can just turn them around.
opposite corner = new edge.

so i went ahead and ordered a set of new hammer tips because i figured even if i turn all the square ones around, the wooden core tips would still need replacing.  plus the set was pretty inexpensive.  anyway, how exactly did you get your old tips off?  i thought about trying to get some lighter fluid or silicone spray to seep in there and see if they'll pull off....is this the right way to go?  i figure it's gonna be a few days before the tips get here and i might as well have everything ready to go while my rhodes is opened up.  thanks for your help.

when i started pulling my tips off i was all careful with a knife (no chemicals) but by the end of it i was just pulling them off with my fingers and scraping the remaining glue off with the knife. this is a wooden hammer i'm talking about.
