Hey all

I'm reconditioning a suitcase right now, and I'd like to get rid of the tolex look, and cover the outside with tweed, rescreen the speaker grill with a dark brown - going for the old blues tweed guitar amp look.

Anyone have any experience with this? Any pitfalls I should know about? The internal electronics also need some work - should I do this before or after the cosmetics?

Go for it! It should look pretty cool. When you remove the existing tolex, keep it as intact as possible so you can use all the pieces as templates for your cutouts. Go to vibroworld.com for tolex and grill cloth.

Hi

Also looking at a Tolex job for my Mark I Stage 73 and checked out the Vibroworld site. Possibilities enough!

I was wondering if anybody has experience as to what width and length is required to cover a Stage 73. Widths vary: 42" - 48" - 55" and there are currently a lot of 'leftovers' offered on ebay (search 'tolex yards') but only 3 to 4 yards long.

thanks for checking this,
love the forum
