Is this normal?
« on: March 04, 2007, 03:20:37 PM »
I recently got my hands on a Stage 88. It's my first time having an 88, so forgive me if this seems like a stupid question.

Is this wiring scheme normal for an 88? None of my other 73's have these extra wires...

Thanks!
Matt

It's normal. I believe it was the only way to get proper output from the extra high notes. I hear it lowers the overall output slightly , which accounts for the slightly different sound of the 88. Have fun with the extra range. I am in love with my 88.

Hi :-)
This is normal... The highest pickups are connected via a capacitor which forms a high-pass network to avoid low-frequent mechanical noise from the hammers striking the tines.
