Hi!

I have a stage mark1 with a suitcase pre-amp that sits on top of a suitcase cabinet. Everything is fine, but I can't get the sustain pedal to work properly. I screwed the screw on the cabinet so that the pedal rod is as long as possible, but it just seems that this isn't enough!

My question is: Is there a difference between a push rod assembly for a stage and a suitcase? I should be quite easy to make a longer push rod assembly.

Has anyone got a any experience with this?

the dowell should lay flat with the bottom of the piano. this means you'll have to modify the plastic bushing to allow the dowell to go through it.
is that how you spell dowell?

well, the problem is simple - stage pianos are thicker on the bottom than suitcase pianos.  They were reinforced thicker on the bottom to sustain uneven support on legs, as opposed to uniform "table-like" support from a speaker cabinet.  Stages are 2 1/2" thick, Suitcases are only 2".

This means the suitcase screw that hits the sustain bar has to be 1/2" longer at least.  however, the screw is a very specialized item.  You may ultimately have to find a longer replacement for it.[/img]

OK... I see!

I'll have to have a longer push rod thing made then... i'll go to the wood shop and get a longer one... Wouldn't that be my best bet!?

well, open up the back of your suitcase - I believe the wooden pushrod in the cabinet eventually will hit the top.  It might mean a longer screw to pass through the holes.

I was thinking about the one insed the piano, not the speaker...

Wouldn't that be the easiest?

oh in the top - I guess yes, never tried - check it out, make sure that if it's longer it's not going to get snagged on the sides of the hole in the top, maybe felt around the hole?
