hi, i'm gonna try and post some pics of my rhodes  i've been working on.(i'm an inexperienced pic poster, so apologies for any stuff ups)
still not fully complete, needs new key caps and things.
please tell me you love it!!!

love the red. I would have kept the case color black instead of cream, but that's just me.

about Ray Charles , you can see him playing a red one in the movie " Ray",
who knows if it's a real vintage one or a fake ?

Wow, that is really cool.  I love the red cheekblocks.  My Rhodes tolex is red but the harpcover is still black.  Red would look awesome.

picassoface, have you put pics on the forum anywhere of your red tolex rhodes? i'd like to see it.

polyvocs, the weird thing about the tolex is that when i bought it, (over the internet) i wanted cream colour, but they only had white, and i thought, white would be cool, so i ordered white , and they sent me cream!  which was an awesome stuff up i guess.
so yeah i think it's smooth blonde. it's the fender stuff and it's not the one they call rough i don't think.
It's the same consistency as the original black tolex, only it's blonde/cream.


when i get to borrow a better camera and when i get the new key caps on, i'll get some more pics up, including the inside, (i've rebushed all the keys and put on new action felt)

i heard that that ray charles rhodes in the film was a fake, i can't remember where i read it.. one of the many forums.

Yeah, Jim- it's at the end of the "post your Rhodes" thread.  Man, I'm really loving the cream and red.  What does it remind me of?  Some kind of ice cream bar.

I´m just starting to restore my second Mark I 73 stage and my idea is to change de tolex color to red. I´m very interesting in red piano pics, to imagine how my rhodes will be in next months.

I don't know if it sounds better when it's red (like the instruments from Clavia) but your Rhodes looks absolutely amazing.

Is it a model from 1975, like mine ? The Harp looks the same way.  :oops:

Congratulations for the work. Looks vintage, and it seems that the inside (mechanic) is also in top notch conditions.

Looks really nice.  I was thinking of re-tolexing my Rhodes in a reddish colour (when I get it, that is, just bought it yesterday... oh, the excitement!).  You should post some higher resolution pictures if you have any.

1975 yes it is i think, although for some reason i used to think it was from 74. i can't remember what made me think that. the date is hard to see. i should just look at the key dates.

the plan is to sell it.
it still has some work to be done, it's getting a dyno split lit configuration (off a real dyno rhodes who's insides were destroyed)
plus keycaps and more nice things.
