Wet-sanding tines without Kerosene, then oiling them

Hi.

Is there any reason I shouldn't wet sand the tines with water instead of kerosene?
It's working great. We didn't want to handle the kerosene suggested in other posts.

I am considering *very lightly* gun-oiling the tines and tone bars (or JUST the tone bars, as even a little oil could degrade the damper felts). This would be done with miniscule amounts of oil and a swab after reinstalling and wiping down the tines and bars. Any comments or suggestions?
I feel that this could insure a bit against corrosion, esp. after handling them during the reconditioning process.
Incidentally, the forks/tines seem to vibrate *much* more regularly  and evenly after removal of scale/surface corrosion.; Also, the new grommets I installed are making a HUGE difference, even though the piano has not been dialed in yet.

Thanks,

I am on my 3d Rhodes (a 1980 MK II Stage 73), which I am restoring to sell. I am about to inherit (sadly) a restored Wurli of unknown origin. My house is awash with Hammond Spinets (and an H series console), 4 Farfisa items in various stages of disrepair, and I sold the remains of my Vox Super-Continental to get my working Yamaha dual-manual combo organ. I have from 2-3 Moogs, depending on what you call a Moog.
My girlfreind says I am like a cat lady, but with keyboards. The punchline: I am a guitarist.
