I'm look to buy a Rhodes. I want to know which one will give me the most classic sound. I know i definity want a stage with wood keys, but what is the differece between the wood and plasic hammers?, which one has the more classic sound? I have played a 73-74ish Rhodes and I liked it alot. If you can provide me with any information at all, it would be appreciated.
Thanks

Difference between wood and plastic keys is the "feeling". The plastic
keys have a digital synth touch. The sound is the same because hammer tips and tines are the same material.

As far as i was aware, the Mark I and Mark II are very similar sounding, however the Mark V is different - it's a much brighter sound.

Solero

Ive never heard a real MKII but I have heard many sample cds and have compared it to a MKI. Seems that the MKII has a brighter sound and is more trebbly. Tines ring more or something. MK1 is more mellow.
Check DJ Nookie's new online label

look for 'Solero' (me) in artists section..
Look out for tunes with my 1976 Stage Piano mk1 73!

You can get an early mk1 to sound bright and a mk2 to sound mellow. It all depends on the setup, preamp, amp, eq etc. That is the beauty of the rhodes.
