Playing some keys they sustain on their own
without touching the pedal...... can anyone help?

The pedal rod could be adjusted too high,or one end of the flat aluminum bar inside the piano could have popped out of place. The bar is the wide aluminum piece under the harp, on top of the dampers-this is what the rod actually pivots.

And if you moved the thing recently, this option increases in likelihood. Luckily, it's pretty easy to correct.

You would need to remove the cover, and then pull out the four screws securing the harp (two on each end). Raise the harp to gain access, and you should be able to seat the pin on one end of the damper bar into the hole that it mates with. Reseating the bar shouldn't require tools.

Thanks loads!

If it's a Stage it's probably the easy fix - pedal rod too long.  Remove the pedal and see if it stops.
