hi everyone. this isn't really a keyboard question, but its close. I'm thinking of buy a digital portable recorder. i've surf the net for hours, and i've narrowed my search down to either the Edirol R-09 http://www.dawsons.co.uk/acatalog/info_00060794.html
or the Zoom H4
http://www.dawsons.co.uk/acatalog/info_00051831.html

has anyone tried either of these or similar items. i want to know what i'm buying first!!

thanks

martin

Spookyman

I'm recording our band rehearsal with my M-Audio MicroTrack II.

I could buy one for 250$. It's very compact, light, and extremly easy in use. The quality of the small stereo electret microphone is not bad (for the size and price), it's better to cut away the bass frequencies...but very usable.

And you have the opportunity to put 2 microphones (48V) over 6.35 jack connectors. 4 - 5 hours of recording with the included battery.

The only (and main) drawback, when the Lithium Battery has to be changed (i don't know, but i suppose in 2 or 3 years) you have to send back the MicroTrack to your M-Audio serviceman to change the battery...you can't do it by yourself.

But for the moment, i'm very happy. It's also good for live gig recording.

When i had to choose between the Edirol R-09 and the Zoom H4, i would take the H4 for the 2 XLR microphones inputs ! It's really a big for high quality recording.
