Did they make a non - EK -10 Mk III?
« on: July 18, 2008, 06:55:12 PM »
Hello. This is my first post on here. I've been trying to get information on the MKIII.
I friend of mine claims to have a Suitcase 73 that's a MKIII, non EK - 10.

Did they make such a thing?

The Mark III was specifically a stage 73 with electronics.  It couldn't be a suitcase piano, as the power supply was actually built into the Mark III piano top.

He probably has a very late model Mark II suitcase

That seems to be the case here. I ended up buying it today! For $650, I got two MKII's! One is fully functional, with the amp/speaker cabinet included - it has a slight distortion problem. And the second one is just the case and keys and hammers, with a round top in perfect condition. I've already been fortunate enough to stumble across Dave Ell, the Washington state Rhodes tech that's held in such high regard. I'm going to take both pianos to him and see what he thinks. The original owner, a studio owner here in Portland that is moving east, told me his plan was to take the best parts out of both pianos and build one really nice one.
