Hey all,

I have a Stage 88 MK2 complete and in very good condition that's been signed by Harold himself !

His signature is on the left corner of the harp - there are no serial numbers at all or whatsoever stamped on the harp, the harp is blank, only his handwritten signature and "built in 1978" handwritten as well (by him too I suppose)...

There's also a golden plate on the top of the piano lid that says "personally autographed by Harold B. Rhodes".

Does anyone know or have any idea of the value of such a unique piece ?
I plan to sell it (the piano is in Paris/France, so you would have to arrange shipping yourself), just make me an offer.

Here's some pics:

Thanks for any input !

Cheers,

It is the very one !
Complicated story (Olivier could talk about it better than me), but to make it short it went from different owners over the years and lately I had the opportunity to trade it with one of my Rhodes, so it is now in my home ! :)

It's yours again if you give me your Mark V

Well, you found the guy to tell you the value at least.

My confusion with this piano has always been that no Mark IIs appeared until mid-late 1979.  My thoughts would be that this could possibly be some sort of Mark II prototype/mock up for catalogues etc at the time.  It's also peculiar that there is no TBJ number, no Rhodes stamp - I don't believe this was a model that was sold, it was probably his personal / Fender's.  Just speculation.

It is an early Mark II in that it doesn't have a white border around the faceplate.  Bordered faceplates came in early 1980.  It also has the old red pickups.

So ya got me on this one!

I forgot to mention that this piano is for sale if anyone's interested, just pm me an offer.

I could put it on ebay but I won't, I'd prefer to sell it to a forum member who'll take care of it as it should.

Just bare in mind that the piano is in Paris/France. I accept international shipping although I wouldn't know just how to ship it yet ! :?

cheers,

Haha!  What goes around!

Now did you end up paying more to get it back Olivier?

The other things I find interesting about it:

The tonebars have number denotations only, not Numbers AND pitch names.  Both Number and Name were used on all Mark IIs.

The hammers are the very white make, usually found around 1977.  Meaning near 1978, and as you say - no bump mod.
