Organ sounds?
« on: April 09, 2005, 09:05:37 PM »
Is it possible to get organ sounds out of a Rhodes? Someone offered me a Rhodes Mark I for $500, and that's a deal I can't pass up even though I've really been looking for something like a Farfisa. I was wondering if and how I could attain those sounds with a Rhodes. Please advise. Thank you.

No, the Rhodes is a piano, not an organ.  It will only give you the Rhodes piano sound!

You can put it through a leslie (like Hal Galper). That will get it reasonably close, though prabably not into farfise territory. Rhodes + leslie is a somewhat underused combination.

buy the rhodes, sell it for more and buy real organs, or just try to emulate one with a roland juno-60

I'm getting good results running a rhodes through a POD, using their leslie cabinet emulator. cheaper and smaller than a real leslie, definitely
