:) Hey guys!
New to forum so just wanted to say Hi!.....I have a Rhodes Stage 73 and a sparkle top bass, and my pics are of the bass....what is this stuff on my damper springs and how do I get rid of it?  All help is very welcome...Thanks!....if the image doesn't work, it's a white powder like on a battery cable?http://s241.photobucket.com/albums/ff82/sfvgoat/fender%20pics/?action=view&current=IMG_3671.jpg

Hard to say from the pics, but it looks like somebody put tuning springs on those old style damper arms to hold the bridle straps in place... the "white stuff" is probably oxidation, since they probably haven't been touched since being installed.
Rhodes, Clav, Hammond, Pianet, still waiting for my Wurly.

:) Thanks...works fine, guess I'll just wipe it off! The springs are as received in 'bout '85...

Fred

Those springs are stock from the factory. Try a dremel with a wire brush to clean off the corrosion.

this spring is normal and is a standard part on this kind of piano bass (and some 73 model !
it's here to adjust the proper high and pression  of the damper
