Tolex in Europe
« on: July 19, 2010, 08:35:07 AM »
Hi,

I want to restore my Rhodes this summer and I'm starting with the tolex; the lid and all the other parts look fine, it's just the tolex that needs to be replaced.

I've been reading around the forum and there are some tips on what glue to use and how to do it. I also read that the original tolex is not made.

I started this thread to ask you where should I buy tolex in EU. I want it to be the closest possible to the original one. It's for a MkII stage with wooden keys.

How much tolex do I need?

Thank you very much. :)

Hi.
check this one:

http://www.fenderrhodes.com/service/parts.php

there is a Joao Coelho in portugal, but I dont know if he has tolex in stock.
Ep Service has it for sure. Any amp repair shop might do it aswell.

kind regards

Thank you very much, Ep Service seems very good.

João Coelho's site is not working, so I assume he doesn't sell parts anymore. I emailed Vintage Music Parts, located in Lisbon.

About the tolex, are all tolex the same? Should I look for anything specific?

I would just be sure it  has the fine cloth mesh like backing, dont just get straight vinyl.Other than that, its personal preference as to color, etc.
