Hi all,
I just purchased an E7, and it looks to be in very good condition. I first tested it/tuned it with the battery it was shipped with, which was putting out a low volume. I had to put my fender hot rod deluxe at about 6 or 7 on the volume to get a decent level (which seemed unusual). Thinking it was the battery, I replaced the battery with a new 9volt, but still having the same issue.
Any ideas on what this could be? I've glanced over the preamp and all the connections look pretty solid.

Please help, I love this keyboard and can't wait to get it up to speed.
Thanks,
Christian

grounding issue maybe?  just a guess...

I'd be tempted to test with another amp before doing anything drastic. That amp could be low impedance input and dragging down the level. Not saying that for sure, but it's a possibility to check on.

I've tried it in two different amps. A hot rod deluxe and a '69 deluxe reverb. Issue is consistent. The volume is consistently low on different pickup configs, to add.

I've found all Clavs don't have a great deal of output but I presume you've used one before and this is giving you even less than the usual. Having already ruled out the very obvious it may be a leaky/failing capacitor. How good are you with electronics? You'll need to go through and test the board at different points to work out if signal is being lost anywhere. Good luck it!
