bouncy lids?

Greetings-

I'm frustrated with how much the keyboard I place on top of my Rhodes (midi controller w/Voce V5) bounces when I play.  I have an older Rhodes with a round top lid.  Can anyone with a flat top lid that places a keyboard on top of it comment on how stable it is?  Does the board still bounce a bit?  a lot?  I'm considering picking up a flat top lid from speakeasy vintage music, but was hoping for a little input first.

I've heard that Speakeasy uses a stronger plastic to reproduce the Mark II flat tops, so you shouldn't have a problem with bouncing.  The only thing worth mentioning is that when you put a Mark II harp cover on a Mark I piano, there's an open slot between the front edge of the cover and the top of the namerail (because the Mark II's namerail is about 1/2" taller).  This means you'll be able to see inside the piano when you play...which is either really cool or really annoying, depending on your personality....

I just piched up ine of speakeasy's lids about a month ago, and it works great.  It is very stable.  I definitly recomend it.

Thanks for taking a moment to respond, badrat and V&CK - I appreciate your input.  I'm happy to hear about the gap between the name rail and the cover before hand...I'm not sure what I would have thought if I only discovered it after putting it on the first time.  Do you have a Mark I, V&CK?  Does the Speakeasy lid leave a gap?  Is it cool?

I'm not sure about the gap.  I'm using mine on the mak II 73 and all my mark I's are 88's so I can't try it out.  I can say that it is sturdy than any of my original lids.

Howdy- I have a round top, and put my motif on top.  I hate the way the flat ones look, so I found four  3 inch self adhesive closed cell foam circles ( they are about 3/4 inch tall) at a craft sore, stuck them on the bottom corners of the yamaha, and no more shakes!! you can even adjust the angle quite a bit, and the top board stays put.  I just wish I had figured this all out before i scratched the hell out of my rhodes.-Hope it helps-tyler

The other option is to do the Dyno lid mod. I did this, although in the end I decided to build a new split lid from scratch rather than chop my original case lid. After tolexing it you'd think it was a new lid fresh off the production line, only with a removable front section to expose the keys.
