Suitcase is quiet, but a lot of hiss when effects are connected

Hi,

I have a MK1 1979 Suitcase.
It is very quiet if the effects are not connected via the inserts (except when I play, of course).
When the pedals are connected, a lot of hiss starts. I tried changing to batteries, unplug any charger or light, and the hiss continues, even when the pedals are in bypass mode. The cables are in good condition and are of nice quality.
Any sugestions?

Thanks

Unfortunately an inherent flaw in the pickups of the rhodes piano.  The insert jacks accessory 1 is right off the pickups, not at all buffered by the preamp.

If the input impedance of your effect(s) is less than 1megohm then you will get hiss.  I have tried several DIs (including Radial) and the only one that killed the hiss without affecting the tone was the Countryman Type 10.

I am hunting for a simple buffer pedal that has a 1/4" output not the XLR of the Countryman for using with my amp and with effects.  Haven't found one yet, maybe the MXR/CAE buffer.

I think it really depends on what you hook up . I use a small stone plugged into a  bbe sonic stomp in the effects loop of my '77 suitcase 73. It doesn't seem to add much noise at all . I think pedals work better than rack mount ( line level ) stuff. Probably a level and/or impedance issue. Good luck !
