Is there a way to power this pre without a 5-pin suitcase?  Vintage Vibe makes one for the 4-pin Peterson pre's, but no 5-pins  :(

Any suggestions?

Thanks everyone!

Thanks!

I'd much prefer something similar to vintage vibes' cheek block supply for the 4-pin DIN.  I wonder why they don't make a 5-pin version.

I might consider trying to retrofit the electronics from that CAE 5pin XLR into a cheek block.  Either way, I'd like to put it somewhere in the piano.

I sell a 5-pin power block that's approximately ~4x6x3". It's the first design that I have pieced together housed in a durable aluminum box and requires no modification to your Rhodes. The box plugs into the wall and then sits at your feet under the Rhodes. I agree that the cheek block supply is an awesome design but the power regulator that I use is just a bit too large for the cheek block and it would need to be somehow mounted within the Rhodes (preferably without drilling or destructive modification).

My goal is to design one that clips onto the harp bracket in a non destructive way but at the moment it's on the back burner to a few other R&D projects that are taking higher priority.

That sounds very good.  Please keep me posted on your progress.  I will keep your floor unit in mind, however most of the potential buyers I speak to are more interested in an internal unit.  Best of luck!

It's tough to say what people would like more. All of my clients have been very pleased with the units and even though I have offered to come up with a way to install it they were very excited to have the unit.

Having a unit inside the Rhodes seems sleek and sexy but a stand alone unit has its advantages over a built-in unit:

+It does not require owners to modify their Rhodes in any way. This not only keeps the Rhodes in its original state but also does not require any installation. It's ready to plug right in and is very straight forward to operate.

+This one is actually small enough to fit inside the Rhodes case compartment along with the legs, cross bars, and sustain pedal. Other 5-pin power supplies that I am familiar with have all been far too big to do this but I was able to get this one as small as possible in order to fit inside the compartment.
