I got some vibration pads for both of my Wurlitzers and I was wondering how I should install them. By this I mean is there some sort of process that I need to do to totally remove the old rotten ones or can I just put the new ones on in their place?

Thanks,
Eric

Don't know, but what synth is that on top of your Rhodes?

Micromoog, freshly restored also, but that's an old picture.

I used the vibration pad material from Ken Rich...which is extremely sticky. Absolutely fantastic stuff. I love Ken Rich stuff :)
All I did was remove the old pads, clean the debris with an abrasive cloth to remove residue, and stick the new ones on.
I kept some extra material to deal with other vibration spots that originally did not have pads.
Now.....only good vibrations.

good luck,

Thanks, Michael.
I got the VV pads, and they are smaller than the originals, but higher than what is left. I didn't know if there was like some alcohol or acetone that was necessary to remove the old goo, though I have never tried. I included some pics of mine to show what they look like.
Oh I notice you have 2 clavinets, haha well I thought I was going to be able to announce that I had one tonite but I lost the bid.

I would completely remove the old myself.

If you want to use a chemical to remove the old glue, remove the shield it to keep acetone etc., away from the keytops and electronics.

Always remember that acetone melts keytops.

Hey Eric. I removed the shield, and placed the lip of it over the edge of a table, to prevent bending it. Then, I used a microfibre cloth that removed all of the debris of the old pads essentially completely.  I did not have to use a chemical so do not know which one to recommend if simple rubbing is not successful.

Sorry to hear you did not win bid on the clavinet. I worry about shipping so keep my eyes open for local sales means very few chances to buy in my area.

Naptha (also sold as lighter fluid, white gas, lantern fuel) works tremendously well as an adhesive remover, and is much safer to use around plastics than acetone (and it usually works better than acetone anyway).

I have a gallon of Coleman Fuel that I use for my camping stove but I keep a small metal squeeze bottle of it (like a little oil can) near my workbench.
