Hey all, I'm in the middle of a recording a new album - we're trying to record the whole thing live and direct the same way 'Headhunters' was done. We had a preliminary recording the other day in preparation for a 2 day session in July. We gigged most of the stronger material in London last week and the whole gig is up online on youtube:

These are all-original compositions with Rhodes & Moog and I'd love to get all your feedback on the songs!
Thanks,
Tom

Great to hear a Rhodes in a live setting.
Wish it was cutting through the mix better.
Where are you guys located?

Great sound! You guys look like you're having a good time!

I know this is a vintage EP forum, but I have to ask: How do you like your Nord Stage keyboard?

Thanks!

Hi there - first of all, we're located in Cambridge / London, UK!
Charlie, the Nord Stage 2 is superb for loads of things - I did a Herbie tribute and was able to program a lot of good sounds on it, including a really convincing Chameleon bass line (even though the original was two overdubbed lines in 'stereo') and the Spank-A-Lee and Swamp Rat synth sounds. The piano sound is excellent and with a bit of overdrive, the right pick-up settings and a good expression pedal, the clavinet is fantastic. The samples are great - I can't remember the last time I had to lug my Solina to a gig now. The main thing for me is that it just doesn't compare in sound, feel or inspiration to playing my suitcase Rhodes - or my stage Rhodes really. I much prefer the Nords to the other options but it's still all about a real Rhodes for me!

Thanks, Tom! Of course, nothing beats the sound of a real Rhodes!!!

For someone like me who's cramped for space but would like to experiment with clavinet and B3 sounds, I'm seriously considering a Nord for my next "toy". I appreciate your advice!

Hi all - our studio LP is due to be recorded in 3 weeks and to celebrate that, you can download two live tracks for FREE from our bandcamp page..:

And if I can't give away funk music featuring a Rhodes piano on this forum, I really think it's time for me to consider another career path!

Well, we've finished recording our album and it's pretty much ready to go off for mastering:

Here are some teaser clips from the record:

It was mixed by Dan Goldman aka JD73, one of the leading Rhodes players in the world right now, who's also a fantastic mixer and producer..
We'd love to know what you think!
