I went to Stevie's holiday toy drive concert in LA last night.  We were treated to guest performances by Chick Corea AND Herbie Hancock, not to mention Esmerelda Spaulding, John Mayer, John Popper, India Arie, and a fair number of others.  Herbie played a Rhodes 88.  Chick was on a Motif XF8 and Moog Voyager.  Stevie played a Yamaha grand, Motif XF8, and a D6, plus he brought on a thumbtack piano for one song.  They played the entirety of Songs from the Key of Life, though I believe the switched the order up a little.  I haven't checked to be sure.  I had pretty good seeats, but not good enough for my crappy phone camera, unfortunately.

And here's a little taste of Chick's minimoog solo:

I was too busy enjoying the show to do much documenting of it.  Sorry.  But if you weren't there, you missed a fantastic show.  I went mostly because Stevie's getting older and I thought I should check him out while I have the chance.  He's got some great songs, but also some that leave me pretty lukewarm in his recordings.  But even those tracks were amazing live. It was WAY better than I expected it to be, even without all of the guest performances.  If you get a chance to see him, I highly recommend you find a way to get a ticket.

I'm blaming autocorrect for that one.  I know her name! I may have typoed the last name, but not her first.

I really hate auto correct. It spells some embarrassing things sometimes if you don't catch it....
